don't worry, we'll post bail

Dear QotD?ers,
We had a short weekend, but it was really good! Today one of our couple friends came over for games and dinner. We played two rounds of Killer Bunnies and Flo was the winning carrot both times! It was hilarious and we had a great time. So, if you want to come visit us, we can play fun games and have tacos, too!
I need to go turn the electric blanket on. It is going to be another chilly night.
I have a lot of favorite bears. I have a wind-up teddy bear that played Whenever I Feel Afraid from The King and I. He was the best bear for getting to sleep.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

If you and I woke up in jail in the same cell, using only FOUR words, what would you say to me?

I dont' think I've askd this one before...

Dear QotD?ers,

I am very excited to have my globe. I had thought about putting it on my Christmas list, but good ones are expensive! and here at the bottom is a paperback book being held open with my mustache.

Today I learned that I have been chosen to be in poster that will be distributed throughout or work complex. I have mixed feelings. Cool! I'll be (locally) famous! and Oh man, my hair better look really good next Wednesday.....

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Which bear is best?

planetoid

Dear QotD?ers,

I prefer reading paperbacks. Like Sabrina, I like that they are small enough to fit in a small bag/purse. Also, I feel less guilty about the wear and tear that paperbacks get. In addition, I have a plastic device (i call it my mustache) that holds open my paperback books for when I want to do things and read at the same time, like blowdry my hair or brush my teeth (oh yes, I will multitask for reading.) However, Justin likes hardbacks. And that's how we end up with a two copies of an extremely long fantasy series.
Can you tell the paperbacks are well loved?

Did I tell you that I picked a globe for my 5-year workaversary company gift? It arrived today! It's pretty awesome. The globe company is CRAM, so I have a CRAM GLOBE. (picture tomorrow!)

Today's Question of the Day? is:

Do you have or want a globe?

binding strength

Dear QotD?ers,

Today was another day of work, commuting and evening domesticity. I was able to finish the 12th book of a super long fantasy series today (Wheel of Time's The Gathering Storm). But now that leaves me without a new book to read! I need to get to the library soon.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
When reading books for entertainment, do you prefer hardbacks or paperbacks?

GO FOR THE BLACK AND BLUE!

Dear QotD?ers,

I love napping in the sunshine. At some point the nap will get juuust warm enough to be a little sweaty to wake you up. then you know you've had a good nap. or maybe that's just me.

Listening to NPR on the way home from work, we heard a story about ski-cross, a new Olympic sport. You release 4 skiiers down a hill at the same time, with twists and turns and jumps, expect them to ram into each other or otherwise injure themselves, and first one to the bottom wins!! Part of the story included a sound clip from a pre-lim race where some french guy jumped off the course and got injured. they saved the injury reveal for the end: vertebrae damage, likely paralysis. WHAT? And this is an Olympic sport?!?!?! A coach: "Yeah it's dangerous, but my athletes can quit anytime they get scared." Please agree with my astonishment at this. for it leads into..

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What sort of rediculously dangerous Olympic sports can you come up with?

like: open water swim relay with sharks, cross country run and shoot-at-the-leader, hockey without padding

it was actually sunshiney today

Dear QotD?ers,

Today we saw photo proof of the alligator in our fake lake. We were taking an afternoon walk and one of our neighbors showed us a picture. It's a big one! We still have not seen it ourselves, and I hope not to. That seems to be the only wildlife in our neighborhood. I wish we had more squirells and birds, but large trees are needed for that, I believe.

My most favorite 80's song is probably Tainted Love. It's fun to sing, and there are a lot of fun details, the cricket clickiting noise, the Where Did Our Love Go interlude... hooray!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What is your favorite activity to do in the warm sunshine?

two decades ago there was music

Dear QotD?ers,

Ahhh, no work tomorrow. I can run errands and go on a bike ride! oh yeah, and sleeping a little bit later. What anecdote can I share with you about today that doesn't involve work or food? It's over 70° in the house tonight and we are probably going to sleep with the ceiling fan on. crazy.

As you should surmise, the last baby I held was Baby Stella with her delicate and loong, adorable baby fingers.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What's your favorite 80's song? (or songs, if you can't pick one)

BABY! (i'm not having one, don't get excited)

Dear QotD?ers,

There were a lot of good answers yesterday. I assign you to vote for your favorite response! I don't know what was actually wrong. When I booted up RamRom today, it accepted keyboards just fine. hrmmm.

My workgroup went out to a steakhouse lunch today to celebrate my 5-yr workaversary! (and another guy's 30th). But other than that, it was a crazy busy day and I was very glad when it was over. Only one more day until the weekend for us, HOORAY!

Today's Quesiton of the Day? is:

When and who was the last baby you held?

i plug it in, it should work!

Dear QotD?ers,

I was at home for lunch today. i went into work for the morning, but had a meeting across town in the afternoon. it worked out ok, because I got to have leftovers for lunch. Penne and tuna steak with a lemonysauce and feta cheese. i'm surprised at how much I like feta.

While I was across town, I stopped to visit one of my friends who is a new mom. i got to hold bab Stella and her cuteness has advanced her to the title 'my favorite baby!' She is small, but she has loong fingers.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
Before Justin finds out the real answer tomorrow, why has my personal computer stopped recognizing keyboards as a valid input device? Funnest answer wins

the noon meal

Dear QotD?ers,

Yesterday Justin made cupcakes from a Betty Crocker Super Moist box. They are so fluffy and spongey and chocolately it's like heaven. If heaven clouds were made of chocolate cake.
(for those of you on netflix, justin recommends the instant play, 2-part fantasy movie The Color of Magic set in Discworld).

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What did you have for lunch today?

I want to ride my ...

Dear QotD?ers,

I went to the grocery store for a few items for lunch... ON MY BIKE!
Flash in the Tan, or Flash for short

Yeah, I thought of that name all on my own during the uphill ride to the store.
We have like a dozen shrubbery species in our front flower bed. I don't think they look good together. At somepoint this spring Justin and I are going to have to invest in a shrubbery shovel and a hedge trimmer.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
When is the last time you rode a bicycle?

A SHRUBBERY!

Dear QotD?ers,

Today was Justin and my 4-year anniversary! The traditional gift is fruit and flowers. This morning we had fruit for breakfast and I got a rose before dinner.

Thank you for all the congratulations we have recieved. Also, thank you for being part of our married life together!

Tonight we watched The AristoCats, a first for both of us, and then two new episodes of 30 Rock.

I've been saying "twenty-ten" like the majority.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

How many unique kinds of bushes/shrubbery are in the front flowerbed of your domicile?

It's about how you say it

Dear QotD?ers,

Did everyone get a Christmas card? I have more extra than I thought I should, but everyone was crossed off my list. If you didn't get one, I'll mail one belatedly. It'll still be awesome!
Good news everyone! It's not nearly as cold as it has been. It's still cold though. Cold enough for 2 pairs of socks.

When talking, how do you say 2010?

Happy New Year! 9/9

Dear QotD?ers,

let's catch up on a few things: Anne's brithday was this weekend! My 5 year work-a-versary was Monday! Cuñao and Sabrina are indeed engaged! Three cheers!

I think, in 2010: the superbowl will continue to have sub-par commercials; the winter olympics will expose some dark hidden secrets about Canadians, I will win So You Think You Can Dance

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What are some things you don't want to happen in 2010?

Happy New Year! 8/9

Dear QotD?ers,

Yesterday, it was commented that I looked silly riding a bicycle while wearing cowboy boots. Well, Anne, to my knowlege, I've never owned cowboy boots. The boots that I was wearing Sunday were my awesomesauce steampunk boots. Please check them out here:

Oh yes, that is real fake wooly lining for a more authentic look. ;] These boots are fun!

And here are my 2010 resolutions/goals:

· Get together with old friends at least once a month
· Go to bed before 11pm on schoolnights, once accomplished for a month, knock it down by 8 minutes until at 10:15
· Exercise on the weekly, either brisk walking or BIKE RIDING!! Maybe join a class at the Y
· Finish home-izing the house (decorations, painting, hanging up pictures)
· Make QotD? Even better
· Keep up with Amanda’s 365 picture blog adventure.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What sort of crazy things do you think will happen in 2010? any crazy predictions? (again, wacky answers encouraged)

Happy New Year! 7/9

Dear QotD?ers,

Hey everybody! I got a bike today! It's a Huffy Deluxe Cruiser, complete with basket, cup holder and one of those ledges on the back that you can carry stuff on. I got a bike lock and a bell for Christmas, so I am now ready for trips to the grocery store!

Some of my favorite times of 2009 were getting together with old friends. The trip to Durango with the engineering girls, the wedding of a highschool friend, spending 4 hours at The Cheesecake Factory with 3 Percussion Studio girls - I always want more of that.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What goals or resolutions do you have for 2010?

Love,
The Asker

P.S. None are required to participate, but if you aren't making any, you are encourage to share fantastical, outlandish or easy ones. I resolve not to get abducted by aliens (outside of playing Killer Bunnies).

Happy New Year! 6/9

Dear QotD?ers,

It is cold. I just turned on the electric blanket and checked the thermometer. 30º! Don't worry, our outside exposed pipes are wrapped in case it gets much colder tonight and stays that way. MMM, electric blanket.

The saddest thing for me in 2009 was my kitten Toottles being put to sleep. We went home for Christmas and the first time I was walking through the house I almost called for her. (so then there was crying)

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What are some of the best times you had in 2009?

Next week I'm going to ask about your 2010 resolutions/goals, so start thinking. For inspiration or guidance, feel free to check out TamiJean's recent post on her blog titled Preparing for Resolutions.

Happy New Year! 5/9

Dear QotD?ers,

The most exciting thing about today was the business lunch. It was very casual and I had some fried catfish and Dr. Pepper. This evening Justin and I tried to watch 9, that creepy CGI movie about animated burlap sack dolls. The disk kept messing up, so we didin't actually see all of it, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway.

The farthest I travelled in 2009 was to Durango, CO. It was a great trip and my first ride in a tiny airplane. That tiny airplane made me plenty nervous!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What was the saddest thing of 2009 for you?

Happy New Year! 4/9

Dear QotD?ers,

It continues to get cold. I'm about to brush my teeth and then hop into bed for a little bit of pre-sleep reading. My Snuggy is very static-y. You are in store for a big shock, all you Snuggie owners.
I washed my hair tonight, the 3rd or 4th time with the shampoo bar. It was difficult to blowdry tonight. My hair kept getting all tangly and felt sticky. I don't know if I didn't rinse the soap enough, not use enough conditioner, or both.

Biggest change in my 2009 was putting the house hunting on hold while I applyed for a new position in the spring, not getting it, and then BUYING A HOUSE! Also, losing that 15 pounds was a big change. Our thanksgiving turkey was 12 pounds and I was astonished that such weight used to be sitting on my hips, thighs and belly.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What is the farthest you travelled in 2009?

Happy New Year! 3/9

Dear QotD?ers,

I know there are many of you that are living at a latitude more north than my own, but I'm going to complain about being cold anyway. It's getting cold! It's supposed to be below freezing tonight! and then get into the 20s this weekend and stay there! I may not get out of bed at all. brrrrrr, just thinking about it makes me cold. oh wait, that's my hands and feet. they are cold.

How'd I do on my own 2009 goals?
- exercize more: I enrolled in fitness classes for the spring and summer through the local parks & Rec department and went until we moved to our new house. After that it was spotty, but then i got serious again before the 5k race in October. Then it got dark before we got home and my exercize became shivering. In combination with the exercize, we changed our eating habits and I lost 15-20 pounds by May and have kept those pounds off! successsss!
- get a house: successsss!
- visit more friends: I tried to get at least one visit in per month. Over all I did pretty good, but I would have liked to do more
- peepy chicken art: fail
- writing a monthly update: lasted pretty good until May. and then I got a facebook and it was much easier just to put a month's worth of pictures on there. I would have liked to have kept up with other aspects of the update, like my headache health.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What was the most significant change for you in 2009?

Happy New Year! 2/9

Dear QotD?ers,

It's still 2010 everyone! Have you been writing your checks with the correct year? Oh man, Justin just took some brownies out of the oven and they smell very good.
Tomorrow I'll be going back to work, as will most of you. I hope it's productive and everyone has a good lunch or whatever. Uggh, work.

Today's Quesiton of the Day? is:
Now that 2009 is over, How did you do on your resolutions or goals? (Here's a reminder of what they were)

Amanda, occasional poster who has resolved to post more this year, started a photo-a-day project with a variety of her friends. I am participating! If you want to see what sort of random photos I'm sharing with the world, here.

HAPPY NEW YEARS! 1/9

Dear QotD?ers,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I woke up at 10 o'clock, missing half of the Rose Bowl Parade (dang!) but I watched the rest of it, and now I'm ready for 2010. We had some champagne last night, and as we did not finish the bottle, we had some mimosa this morning. Goodness, it's already after noon 0'clock. I LOVE VACATION DAYS.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Who did you spend New Year's Eve with?

I was mostly by myself, but before midngiht, Justin came over (he was programming and in the zone) and we watched the countdown and kissed and i convinced him to go outside and play the cuica really loud.

Love,
The Asker
