it's like bambi, but without the deer and skunk, and with a frog.

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Mom is here! Tonight we put together Ikea counter-stool and discovered just how unlevel the kitchen tile is. If you are ever in need of someone to put together your Ikea furniture, give us a call. We are very good and hilarious to work with. :]
.
Another delight for the evening: Our hoppin' toad was at the edge of the garage tonight and Justin had to shoo him out before closing the garage door. Toad thought that he would be safe under the lawnmower. He was wrong on so many levels! Also, a tiny bunny has been spotted again, but not by me. We have adorable wildlife in my neighborhood.

What are your feelings on squirrels?

It's not left-overs, it's Renewed Dinner!

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I have moved or emptied 4 boxes today! Only 2-dozen to go! But I think all the games are in the game closet and all the books are in the study. The study has the most stuff in it, with two computers/desks, bookshelves... Justin is working on updating our DVR to function with our *new* wireless home network, so he's got THAT computer in here as well, hooked up to the TVCR and an extra monitor.
.
Today's Question is inspired by an article that Justin read about all the 'rebooting' of old movies, toys, games and fads that have popped up. Transformers. GI Joe. Some other stuff that I can't think of right now.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What some-thing from the past would you like to see updated and renewed?

The Neighbors get a new name

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We did it. We took cookies to the neighbors to meet them.
As it turns out, Canadian grandparents were visiting for a few weeks. Those Canadian Grandparents are They Who Live on the Left (but now they've gone back to Canada). The actual neighbor, and we know her real name now, is very nice and friendly and also Canadian. The dog is Kendall and she is a beautiful black retreiver/collie mix or something. Tonight I watched, in person, a dog chase her own tail. I watch that dog catch her tail and keep spinning in a circle. I found this hilarious. So, everything is great now, and we'll be referring to them as The Canadians Who Live on the Left.
.
If you are feeling generous when you read this, say a prayer or send good thoughts towards an e-mail only QotD?er participant who is taking The Bar Exam on his birthday. I don't know much about lawyering exams, but I bet it's worse than the PE exam and I refused to take that one.

When you really really need to vent about Work frustrations, who do you go to?

appendix!

I could wait until I write up tomorrow's QotD to share this, but I bet I would forget.

The two times that I have seen/heard the dog, the owner was outside and the dog was on a leash.

This points to
- complete obliviousness of They Who Live on the Left
or
- a horrifying disregard for our patch of grass.

I'm fairly certain that this isn't poo from dogs being walked, since the poo is about 3 feet from our garage and 15 feet from the street... and riiight next the the property line.

I think Justin is planning a 'deliver cookies and casually bring up poo' trip to the neighbors. Cookies and poo should never be in the same plan.

An old friend returns!

Dear QotD?ers,
.
You may not have realized he was gone, but today marks the return of a very special part of QotD?. RamRom the Tumputer is hooked up to the internet! His Pink RAM once again aids the writing of interesting questions. WB, RamRom.
.
In House News, all the furniture is here (did I tell you that already?), and today I finished the final cleaning of the apartment while Justin waited for the CableMan to come and give us some Cable.
.
They Who Live on the Left's dog has left more poop in our yard. This is not very neighborly.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
How would you deal with this problem? Please keep it legal and neighborly.

I wore my matching earrings

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I missed a day! I was in a foul mood yesterday and didn't feel much like it. I hope you will accept my day of QotD? vacation. I'd actually like to take some real vacation from work sometime soon. I'm still looking into that.
.
I can tell you that the clackety noise is not from the making, dumping or moving of ice. That makes more of a grumbly, ice-churning noise. It's so strange. Houses are usually known for their mysterious creaks and groans. Our house has got clickety noises. Anytime the thermostat changes state, it clicks a couple of times. Why?

there's no slime in the ice machine

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We had a home cooked dinner tonight, watermellon on the back patio (i got 3 mosquito bites on my left foot), and fresh-out-of-the-oven brownie and cup o' milk. This living in a house thing is pretty good so far. All of the extra clothes hangers are in the apartment, however, which makes ironing things difficult.
.
If anyone can find out why 'potatoes' is 'bubbles', I'd like to know.

Served with Bedknobs and Broomsticks

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Big news, the furniture has moved from the apartment to the house. It's so lovley. I can sit on the couch and play Wii. I can sit at the kitchen table and type out a QotD?. I can sleep on a bed that's more than a mattress on the floor. I can do laundry. It looks like someone lives here now. There are still plenty of boxes left to unpack, but I'm sure I'll go through those in no time.
.
I found my brush in the side pocket of my old band bag on the floor of our bedroom in the apartment. Sadly, no one guessed that exactly. I pick Jackie as the winner. She guessed a green bag, which is close enough.
.
Today's Question of the day? is:
.
Without looking anything up, what would you expect if 'bubbles and squeek' was on the menu?

Not fair! My poor hairbrush.

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Well, it rained SOME today, but I can't confirm that it rained at either of our homes*, just the office.
Hey everyone, will it rain again today? ~crosses fingers~
.
This evening we played Settlers of Catan. It was much easier to set up and understand than Killer Bunnies. Also, I won. So it's my favorite of the two right now.
Last night I washed my hair and I realized I couldn't find my comb or my brush. I did allright with finger-combing, but now I'm really curious.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Oh, where is my hairbrush?
.
Remember, it could be at the house or hiding in the apartment, or at work, I guess, but I didn't see it. Person with the most accurate answer (after I find it) will win a prize!

it's been two months or more

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We did it. We saw a 12:01 showing on a school night. I enjoyed the movie. I enjoyed being excited about something with so many other people (something that wasn't a sporting event).
My sleepy level today at work was better than it was on Tuesday, go figure. But the workday itself was frustrating. Justin and I had contemplated going to bed at 7pm again, and just sleeping the whole night through. But then we got a package that included 'Killer Bunnies' so we played a game after dinner. For two newbies, it was confusing, and I had to keep referring to the rule book, but I'm sure it will be a lot more fun when more than 2 people play.
Anyway, that game ended at 9pm. I still need to shower, and then I will go to bed. To be followed by another day of work!

I think my wacky, rediculous show would be on USA, the catchphrase of which is "Characters Welcome"

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We have just woken up from our 2.5 hour nap. We are dressed and ready to go. Sadly, my wand is packed in a box somewhere, but we can't find it. Good thing I have a backup wand! It's a little flashy, but it will do. We are meeting some friends from work, and I don't know how they'll really feel about me being dressed up, but I guess it's about time they learn that I'm a little weird.
.
Anyway, HARRY POTTER MOVIE TIME!

How irresponsable

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I had delicious fruit at lunch and we stopped at the library after work. Also, I made plans to attend the 12:01 showing of Harry Potter #6. Heaven help us, that's a work night. I need to find my magic wand, which should be in a box at the house. I already know where my cloak is, so phew.
.
I really don't like scary stories, especially at night when I'm alone. It's a little better now that I'm married, but then only for 'spooky' and not 'greusome and horrifying.'
.

Have you ever done something rediculous really late at night on a school night or work night?

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Dear QotD?ers,
.
This weekend was one of serious packing. My parents and younger brother came to help, and they did a fabulous job. All of the kitchen and a whole lot more has been transported to the house. This afternoon we took pictures in the front yard. I don't know where the transfer cord is, or I'd share some with you.
.
This is going to be a busy and stressful week at work, so let's hope we all get through it quickly.

New house: 5/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Today was the 4th and final day of 'wear a skirt to work week.' It was sort of nice being fancy and dressed up. Perhaps I will do it again someday.
.
Tomorrow we'll be doing some cleaning and packing, getting ready for some company who is in for some hard labor. (Mom, I'll send you directions and pictures in the morning.) It's also 3 weeks past the point when we should have taken the recycling to the center. That'll feel good to get rid of.
.
I would like to get those 'Guess What.. We Moved!' postcards and mail them to all my friends. We can get our weekend guests to take a picture this Saturday. (Thanks Mom!)

What should Justin and I do, or how should we pose, for this monumental photograph?

New House: 4/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Today I wore a skirt to work for the 3rd day in a row. While there were positive reactions on Tuesday, there were no reactions today. We went to Subway for lunch. We drove to the house after work and I cleaned the bathroom while Justin dusted the fans, vents and blinds
.
The fake lake has no ducks. I think it's all around unbeautiful except for in the evening, when the lights from the basketball court shine upon it. We did catch someone fishing there this afternoon.
.
Also, Justin's second attempt to meet the other neighbors failed. They were in the yard when we arrived, so he introduced himself and me. The man said 'welcome' and went back to whatever yard work he was doing. The woman didn't even look up. We still don't know what their names might be.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What nickname should we use for our somewhat anti-social neighbors*?

New House: 3/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Today was a busy stressful day of work. So after dinner I had some banana pudding ice cream by Blue Bell. Wow, I really don't have anything else I want to talk about. Except: don't bury me in a gold lined casket, and the moon is funny
.
Not entirely surprising, my idea for a house-warming themed game to play was the exact idea my mom answered. Things like that happen sometime. So when everyone comes for a real visit, we can play Clue based on our houseplan.
.
The neighborhood has a nice community center with a gym and a pool. The neighborhood also has a man-made, shallow, decorative lake with signs saying "No Swimming/ No Fishing/ No Boating"
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Are you at all tempted to go swimming, fishing or boating* in the fake lake? Or shall we just go up and down the streets introducing ourselves to the neighbors in a great big bunch, with muffins**? Or something else?

New House: 2/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Sometimes, I'll take the outfit I wore to church on Sunday and wear it again to work on Monday (I only wore it for 2 hours, so it's ok). Despite this being unusual attire for me, no one mentioned the skirt. So I'm going to do it again tomorrow, with another skirt, to see if someone mentions it.
.
Also, I was very hungry today. I figured it was from all the hard labor this weekend and all the stress encountered during today's very busy workday.
.
Now that I have all these great gifts (thank you again),
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What sort of house-warming themed party could we play?
.
I know what I want to play ;D

New House: 1/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I prefer regular carpet to burbur. And while hardwood (psuedo or otherwise) and tile floors are wonderful, I still like my bed rooms and living areas to be carpet.
I love carpet tracks. It's lets you know that someone has cared enough to vacuum before the guests arrive. Back when we were looking at houses, and some lady was trying to get us all excited about this one particular house, she was selling the berber carpet on the fact that you never see carpet tracks. The color scramble of fiber used made it look like rice-a-roni. Between those two, where's the incentive to vacuum? or keep it clean? Whatever. We didn't buy that house.
.
So, getting to some new house news, Thursday and Friday nights we spent at the house, sleepin' on the air mattress. Friday we went to all the furnitures on this side of Houston looking for a bedroom set, a dining room set and a matress. Saturday morning I went back out while Justin finished shampooing carpets. I came back for lunch with some good ideas on what I wanted to get. So i took him out one more time to look at my choices. AND WE BOUGHT THEM! Furniture will be delivered later. Saturday evening we went to a BBQ at a work-friend's house and then drove into Rosenberg to see the fireworks. I thought they smelled like hotdogs, and yes, I know how wierd that sounds. Saturday night we spent at the apartment, packing some stuff, doing laundry, going to church, taking a nap. But we came back to the house for the afternoon. Justin got one of these: and I scrubbed the walls with Mr. Clean's Magic Erasure waiting for this to be delivered:
That's a king size. And trust me, I'll probably take more than my half of the bed, now that it is available.
.
If you looked at the title, you may suspect a theme week. If so, your suspicions are correct!
Let's pretend I'm having a QotD? house-warming party and you are all invited.

in the new house again!

Dear QotD?ers,
.
After work today, we had dinner, packed up some stuff, drove by the in-laws to pick up a carpet shampoo-er and came to our home. While Justin cleaned the fridge, I swept all the baseboards and sweepable floors, and vacuumed our bedroom. I cannot express to you how big this house feels. If you've been to our apartment... our new master bedroom is the size of the livingroom and dining room combined.
This is what I looked like yesterday when I was typing up the QotD?

That's the study.

NEW HOUSE NEW HOUSE NEW HOUSE

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Hello and welcome! I am coming to you live from.... OUR NEW HOUSE. We have a house and we are in it now. Justin is taking a picture, which I'll upload later on this evening. Are you a little surprised? Considering that yesterday's QotD? was filled with uncertainty? We were also a little surprised when we checked our e-mail after lunch to read "Closing is at 3:00pm this afternoon." "Well heck! Let's get out of here!" so we took a half day of vacation. And just to spite us, Pearland had unreasonable traffic problems at 1:45 in the afternoon. Pearland, we are still leaving you, sucker.
.
Because planning for this new house has been akward and disorganized, we haven't yet decided on when we'll move or paint or have our party. You are welcome to offer your services, though, and we'll let you know when we may need them.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Would you be interested in having a Question of the Day? guest week, where different QotD?ers would be responsible for the day's post and question?
.

P.S. OMG WE HAVE A HOUSE
