Happy New Year! 7/9

Dear QotD?ers,

Hey everybody! I got a bike today! It's a Huffy Deluxe Cruiser, complete with basket, cup holder and one of those ledges on the back that you can carry stuff on. I got a bike lock and a bell for Christmas, so I am now ready for trips to the grocery store!

Some of my favorite times of 2009 were getting together with old friends. The trip to Durango with the engineering girls, the wedding of a highschool friend, spending 4 hours at The Cheesecake Factory with 3 Percussion Studio girls - I always want more of that.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What goals or resolutions do you have for 2010?

Love,
The Asker

P.S. None are required to participate, but if you aren't making any, you are encourage to share fantastical, outlandish or easy ones. I resolve not to get abducted by aliens (outside of playing Killer Bunnies).

I resolve to do nice things for people when I think of it...not just think of it and do nothing! My mother always said, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." There have been some not so pleasant things going on around Houston lately, so maybe doing nice things will make me feel better too!

Okay...are you wearing cowboy boots on that bike???

And I laugh at the notion that there are people who can bring groceries home on a bicylce. Three galloons of milk are really hard to balance!! If you hook a trailer to the end of that bike, it might then be suitable for grocery trips, but if you are going to insist on wearing cowboy boots anyway, I am just laughing at you !!!

I would like to resolve to NOT wake up at 4 in the morning for 2010. I am also determined to NOT grow any more gray hairs in 2010.

I really do not make new year's resolutions. I make more frequent assessments and adjustments in my life than at the end of twelve months.

It is rather like the cello. I have my big goal, but right now I am not even focused on that. My goal for the end of January is to be able to easily postition my fingers on the board and move the bow across each string at the correct angle. For each day, my goal is to practice these skills, even if it is only for 15 minutes. Last night I tuned it on my own!! If I match this goal, I will set a new one next month that leads me towards the end goal.

I have some old and new (to me)resolutions...... Not necessarily in any order....pretty much self explanatory and pertaining to all aspects of my life...personal, home, school, etc!
1. Be more organized and efficient.
2. Eat healthier,get more exercise.
3. Be more creative/do more creative projects.

Fun, enjoy your new bike!

@Anne, indeed, it is difficult to buy groceries on a bike. I did it for over a year, and I always had 4 or more bags hanging from the handlebars! Note: don't try this at home.

Last night I decided that this year I want to read at least 3 books in Portuguese. Also we have a wedding to plan!

Again, I'm cheating and just pasting in a blog post. ^_^

1) Woo, bike! You could probably get a nice container to strap to the back to embiggen your carry space for stuff like library books or groceries.

It's a bad idea to just carry two plastic grocery bags and load them up with about ten more library books than you really need, assuming that hanging one from each handle will be balanced.

Not that I'd know that from like ... experience or anything. *shifty eyes*

Also, abducting one of your OWN bunnies is a valid strategy, especially when there's a roaming red card in play. I like to imagine my abducted bunny flipping him the bird through the spaceship windows as he passes by. Stupid roaming red. *grumble, grumble*

@ GroovySabrina,

Did I miss an announcement somewhere, or a post recently? I was not aware of an impending wedding!!

@ TamiJean,

You have a big, faluting life with lots of goals and ambitions. I am back to being angry with you, but mostly because as one of my children read my answer this morning, they scoffed and said it was too late on the gray hairs!!! I have decided to hold you responsible for this! And it makes me want to send you a box of homemade cookies!

Asker,

The Wolf Clothing Company in Chicago isn't really so creepy. In so much as you can love and admire a loan shark, the Wolf in Sheep's Clothing happened to be Mr. Ken's youngest sibling. Think Mr. Ken, but blonde and blue-eyed and even sillier. And more of a capitalist. OH, and shorter!! Much shorter, as he is only about an inch or so taller than I am!!

@Anne

Your wrath manifests in delicious baked goods?

No WONDER your kids give you such grief! Did you make french toast for the one who commented about gray hairs?

*giggles*

-Join two classes at the REC and attend regularly.
-Graduate!
-Take a big trip with friends. We keep saying we will and it keeps getting pushed back.
-Not to stress the small things.

I need to lose weight. Like 30 pounds worth this time. This is not a good thing.

@ TamiJean,

Deeee-licious! Do not ask for confirmation on that from those people who are subject to my cooking!!! No cheating now!!

@ Minears,

I continue to ponder the experience of moving to a new country with a 2 month old first born!! A first born!! Two months old!! Wow!

-Lose 24 pounds this year. (That's only 2 pounds a month.)

-Travel out of state.

Dear The Asker,

My only goal is to find a race of aliens, learn their customs, gain their trust and then send them out by the millions to earth to hunt you down and abduct you.

2nd Mom, wonderful resolution

Anne, I don't own cowboy boots. The next post will show you more details of what I'm wearing. Also, I will not be transporting 3 gallons of milk. that would be crazypants. i'm thinking about a weeks worth of produce for 2 persons.
i fully support your non-4am resolution, as long as that means waking up AFTER 4am. Since your cello goals will change, you are now commanded to give monthly updates on your cello progress. I'm sure TamiJean will help me keep tabs on you.

Mom, let's do a 5k together! it can be a fun kind, not a super competitive kind.

Sabrina, WEDDING! HOORAY!

TamiJean, I may replace the tiny basket with a nice big basket. i'm not sure how to fix things to that back shelf thing. it seems like it would need to be real skinny, or have a firm base so it wouldn't fold over the sides.

Anne, unofficial announcements were made in the Darryl/Sabrina Christmas card and website. Don't worry, you didn't miss anything here.

Jackie, good plans, i especially like the one about graduating and taking a big trip with friends.

Amanda, yeah! pluggin' your new blog-project!

Dr. Fandango, that sounds like a lot of work. i mean, you got our Christmas card, so you know where I live. unless your main goal is to find and train aliens to do your bidding and I am meerly their first objective...

Sweetie Pie, you have the best resolution of all!

Anne, i think I know where that pie came from.
