Monday

Dear QotD?ers,

First unofficial QotD? I'm excited and I hope you are too. I'm going to try to post daily between 7:15 and 7:27am. I'm at work by this time (when I ride the vanpool) and official work doesn't start until 7:30. For weekdays when I don't go to work, we'll see if I can keep it up. Perhaps QotD? will be a good motivation to wake up before 9 o'clock on my Fridays off. (I have a flexible work schedule "9/80," so I get every other Friday off).

If you haven't already, take a gander at the FAQs and QotD?er picture that are linked just under the header up there and comment on those (especially if you think the FAQs need some more detail).

I'll keep the first one easy.

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What kind of socks are you wearing?
Love,
The Asker

Meet some QotD?ers!

At my wedding I took the opportunity to get a group shot with some of the QotD?ers in attendance. Those who have not yet given permission have been edited! If one of them is you and you want to share your face with the internet, let me know!

Christie, Matthew, Amanda, The Asker, Mom, Justin, Cuñao, Paris, Alicia, Brenda

And for those of you who were not in attendance, or were but missed the photo, you can send me a head shot and I'll use my MSPaint skills to add you in...

F.A.Q.s

What…
…is QotD?
Question of the Day? (QotD?) and Question of the Week? (QotW?) began as a regular e-mail to my family and friends during The Asker’s high school years (pretty much to get attention). It included an update of The Asker’s day, QotD?er responses to the previous day’s questions, a new question and then any closing thoughts. It continued when I went to college (to keep up with everyone).

… are Magic Cosmic Brownie Points?
A point system meant to encourage regular participation in the original edition of Qotd? Points were also awarded for completing wacky challenges. Fifty points could be redeemed for baked goods or other agreed upon prizes.

…kind of questions are asked?
Questions vary from simple to complex but are almost always intended to get an answer based on personal opinion or experience. Trivia questions are rare.

Who…
… is The Asker?
The persona that Kristen uses for Question of the Day? to give it an air of legitimacy.

…are QotD?-ers?
Family and friends who participate in the QotD? phenomena.

…is Quiggly Orin the Duck?
At one point The Asker decided that QotD? needed a mascot and asked for suggestions. Quiggly Orin the Duck won.

When…
…are questions asked?
The Asker will make every attempt to ask a question on every weekday.

…do I need to respond?
Unlike the original version of QotD?, where The Asker spent a great deal of time putting together the daily editions and required regular participation to feel that her effort was worth it; Question of the Day? should be responded to whenever you are able or are moved by the question.

…did QotD? begin?
The Asker doesn’t really remember, since hotmail.com didn’t save all sent e-mails automatically. The Asker does have a copy of QotD? from June 24, 1999. If any QotD?ers have an older e-mail, they are encouraged to share it.

How…
…do I get it?
Thanks to the new format, you can either get your daily QotD? by checking the website or asking for a subscription. The first 9 people to ask for this service will receive QotD? in an e-mail upon posting. The tenth or more persons will get it shortly there-after.

…do I respond?
There are two ways to respond
1) On the website, click the “# Answers” link after the posted time. Type your response in the box. Complete a word verification step. If you have a google/blogger, livejournal, wordpress, typepad or AIM account, please consider posting under this identity. For those who desire to respond as ‘anonymous’ you must include your QotD?er name in the response. Otherwise The Asker may deleted your comment to keep out the riff-raff. All answers on the website are public to the whole internet and will be monitored.
2) If receiving QotD? by e-mail subscription, simply respond to the e-mail. These answers and any following correspondence will be private between Asker and QotD?er.

…many points do I have?
The Asker has no idea.

…do I earn more?
At this time The Asker is not granting any points. Though she is thinking about monthly challenges….

Why…
…does The Asker do it?
For attention. To keep up with friends. Because past QotD?ers sometimes ask when QotD? will begin again. Questions are fun.

…should I participate?
If you know the true identity of The Asker and are interested in what she is up to and sharing your thoughts on random subjects, you should at least give it a try!

Where…
…does it happen?
The internet, at this website.

Regular kind

Sometimes, a new grocery store or restaurant will open a week or two before it has a Grand Opening! I guess this allows the business to work out the kinks before drawing too much attention to itself.

This is the current stage of the new Question of the Day? by The Asker - a regular opening. The grand opening will happen sometime in July. WITH FIREWORKS?

Resurrection

QotD? has been gone so long. I intend to start it up again, but in a different format, namely blog-form with the option of direct e-mail.

And so I have created this bloggg.
