neck accessory

Dear QotD?ers,
.
It's Friday! I hope you will enjoy whatever the weekend has in store for you. I'll be visiting some friends in the metroplex and then spending some time with family as well. I hope teh drives will be pleasant.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Do you have a winter scarf?
.
I have 3, and I've been using two of them this winter. They are sort of fun, and they substitute as a blindfold when I try to sleep in the van.

W-W-W-What's in Your Pockets Wednesday!

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I fully expect my legs to be spaghetti-like tomorrow. Lydia, the fitness instructor, really pushed us hard tonight. But for now I'm using my Pedegg to shave useless skin cells from my dainty feet. Let's look at the results, shall we?..... Ew Gross!
.
Perhaps you read the title of today's post and quickly grabbed random things within your arms' radius and shoved them into your pockets. Good for you!

Book -> Movie

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I need to get a better handle on my posting time. Yesterday there were cupcakes for breakfast, but I saved mine for dessert after lunch. Then my off-site meeting ended a little early and I was home before it got dark outside! That's a really nice schedule.
This morning there was thick frost on the windshield. brrrr
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Is there a book you'd like to see as a movie?
.
I'm sure there are. I think Disney should do some more fairy tales, and not necessarily princess ones. Hansel & Grettle, any of the Grimm stories that involves an unfortunate tailor wandering in the forest but then saving a princess on top of the crystal mountain. I'd really like to see how they would develop a 1 1/2 hour movie from a 15 minute story.
I would also like to see more Michael Crinchton novel based movies (Prey)
.

Book :: Movie

Dear QotD?ers,
.
There are cookies in my home. Somewhere, there is also a bag of Rieces Pieces. My husband thinks I don't know where he hid them.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Have you ever seen a movie that was better than the book?
.
I have. We saw Inkheart this weekend. I read the book and wasn't really impressed with the pacing or amount of magicalness. So, go see the movie first, then if you feel like it, read the book.
Actually, I'd also say that the Lord of the Rings movies were better than the books. Yes, the books were wonderful, but there was often dry, lengthy, descriptive passages that translated much better as visual descriptions.

Presidents 5/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I would have a pair of cats. But I would have to get lots of presidential-cat doubles. You know, people take tours of the White House, and they want to see the cats! But what if someone were to take them for his own? This is why Jimmies and Hypotenous would have doubles, and a Cat Wrangler to manage them all.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Who is your favorite movie/tv President? (actor who played the president, not president who acted)
.
I really have a hard time remembering president characters. I'm sure I've seen plenty of movies with them. But the only one that really stands out is Bill Pullman in Independence Day.

Presidents 4/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I'd probably want the chef to make me really great tex-mex with a chocolately dessert like that one on the cruise, or the chocolate pyramid at the converence. I thought baked alaska was some fish thing, but wikipedia tells me it's a delicious ice-cream-and-cake. Oh! I've changed my mind! For my first 50 dinners at the White House, I would want to try each state's foods. You should really scan through that list. How else will you learn that Utah's state snack food is jello? Or that 5 states have an official muffin? And for states without official foods, Chef could just make for me a cultural meal of some sort.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Apparently all the good presidents have pets, (including a pgymi hippo and alligators), so what pet would you bring to the White House?

Presidents 3/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Inauguration! I did not get to see it live or recorded, but I did read a transcript of Obama's speech.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
If you were president, what would you have the White House chef make you for dinner?
.

Hmm, I'm going to have to think about this one.
.

Presidents 2/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I'm going to change things up a little bit. I'll be posting Questions each evening, Sunday-Thursday, instead of each morning, Monday-Friday. You are all (Y'all are) still welcome to answer them whenever you choose!
.
I don't know that I have a favorite president. I will say that there are some presidents that interest me more than others: JFK, FDR, Reagan, Woodrow Wilson
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Will you be keeping up with all of the inauguration coverage today?
.
I believe it's going to on in the lunchroom all day. I'll probably be in there for the actual inauguration part.

Presidents 1/5

Dear QotD?ers,
.
It's an inagural type of week! Hopefully that means it will be a good one. I'm starting off well, with a pineapple kolache.

TGIF

Dear QotD?ers,
.
It's Friday!!!! I slept in and am still in my pajamas! Eventually I'll shower and change - I do have a few errands to run. I hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What is your favorite day of the week and why?
.
I like Saturdays. I get to sleep in late, gauranteed. My Fridays off are nice, but every other Friday I still have to work. And Sundays are nice, but Sunday is chore day before the week starts again. Saturday is the most easy going of my days.

tunes

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We went shoe shopping, but did not find anything we liked. Well, I found some cute green shoes, but I already have a pair of green shoes... I'm not sure if I need more. We ended up going to dinner at Gringo's and dessert at Olive Garden. Hooray!
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What's the last song you heard (or sang?)
.
It was on the Sirius Satallite Radio 80's station, by the cars.. but I can't remember which song.

Fully Vested!!!

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Happy 3rd Anniversary to me and Justin! (also happy anniversary to Aunt Barbara & Uncle Danny). Three years ago today I was at the beauty salon, probably becoming very nervous because my Mandy Moore look-alike stylist was already 30 minuters late. But by 2:30 ish, we will officially hit the three year mark. It's MUCH colder today than it was on that day. And I had a banana for breakfast instead of kolaches and momosas(sp?) But I'll get to have lunch with my husband!
.
Regarding yesterday's question, Skittl1321 (Jessi), pointed out that chemistry lab work had to be done in pen for the permanent factor. I had forgotten about this. Don't do chemistry labs in pencil! In Quantitative Chemical Analysis lab, our labs were so painstakingly detail and results orientated (unlike O-chem which was ~mix mix, poof~ "I don't see a silver mirror, but I do see black clumps at the bottom of my flask.. success?") that if we didn't use pen, we got a zero. And after we reviewed our graded labs, they took them back up for secrecy! That was a tangent that I didn't intend going off into.
.
The traditional gift for a three year anniversary is leather.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What do you think would make a good leather anniversary gift?
.
(If you prefer, you may answer for the modern gift: crystal/glass)
.
Justin and I are going to get each other black leather shoes. We both need some. It's not romantic, but very practical. Plus I really can't think of any romantic or even love inspired leather gifts.

Math teachers want to know

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Remember when I mentioned that one of my 2009 goals was to exercize more? Well, my Monday/Wednesday evening fitness class was cancelled. I'm very dissapointed and hoping that my other class doesn't get cancelled as well.
I've been real excited about the quality and quantity of responses lately. It's very fulfilling to see so much interaction on QotD?, interaction that wasn't this available when it was just in e-mail format. Thanks everyone!
.
Today's Question of the Day? is submitted by Mom:
.
Have you ever had a math class where you did NOT have to use pencil, mechanical or regular? If so, where and what grade or level?
.
I can't remember any math class that I didn't have to use pencil. Though in college or something I bet I could have used pens, but that would have been dumb. Math needs erasers. That's just how things work. Although, I have had math classes that assigned reports and papers, which were turned in on ink. (Thanks Mom and 9th grade geometry!)

GRAPHITE!

Dear QotD-ers,
.
There was honest to goodness ice on our windshield this morning. Ok, actually it was more like really thick frost, but that still counts as wintry! also, 32°F! BRRR! I'm very thankful for electric blankets.
Saturday morning I was awake at 8:30 and ran all my errands by 11:30. I was very impressed with myself.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
When did you make the switch from traditional to mechanical pencil?
.
probably sometime between college and career. I held on to the regular pencils for a long time. There was something very satisfying about a newly sharpened pencil. They also made great hair 'chop-sticks.' (Boys: those sticks/rods that girls can use to keep their hair in a bun or a twist) But, especially at work where I have an unlimited supply or pencils and lead, I use mechanical pencils almost exclusively.

Over Yonder

Dear QotD?ers,
.
A happy Friday to you! Last night I finally took down and put away the Christmas decorations. Thankfully, my closet had room for all of it without becoming a jumbled mess again. This weekend I really need to work on a few projects. Projects never end, do they?
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Is y'all part of your everyday (or special occasion) vocabulary?
.
Despite being Texan, I never say y'all. If I need to address plural yous I'll use "you all." Justin has noticed that I use "yet" a lot more when I'm with my family.

Happy New Years! 3/3

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Yesterday was a very cold day for me. My feet were hopelessly cold and I was looking forward to my hot shower. But the first few minutes were painful, due to the vast temperature difference between the water and my feet. For those of you that live in a place with perpetual snow and would laugh at my 'winter' coat, I know - I would never make it in your climate.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What did you do for New Year's Eve?
.
My younger brother and his girlfriend came down for a visit. We went to the Aggie @Rice basketball game (some very controversial calls). We stayed at the apartment all evening having snacks, watching tv specials (Mylie!) Cuñao y GroovySabrina came over and we played some games and had banana pudding ice cream. She had to leave early, but the rest of us stayed up and had real sparkling wing 'champagne' at midnight. Then it turned into a sleep-over and there were pancakes for breakfast.

Christmas: review

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Mmm, fresh pinapple for breakfast. and a ham-n-cheese croissant sammich. I'm about to start recording macros. It is making me a better spreadsheet artist.
Please allow me to ask one more question about 2008. I would have done it last week, but I was on vacation!
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Did you have a good Christmas? Did you get any awesome gifts?
.
I had a wonderful Christmas vacation. All travel was at a relaxed pace, not a frenzied schedule. I'm so thankful for the amount of time I got to spend with family. It feels like I've already told everyone this, but I got an electric toothbrush! I also got 4 pairs of socks, all of which are uniquely awesome. We also received lots of wii-related things.

Happy New Year! 2/

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I'm in training until Thursday, so my expositions may be shorter than usual.
Just because 2008 is over doesn't mean we can forget it. Some of us may find it hard to do so and will keep writing checks with 2008 dates until March.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What are some memorable things from 2008 for you? Did you keep all your plans or resolutions?
.
Love,
The Asker
P.S. my answer will be in the comments.

Happy New Year! 1/3

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I have really enjoyed my vacation. I was able to spend a lot of my family, which I am very thankful for. I should put up a post on my livejournal account with details and pictures of all the fun we had. I hope you had a great time doing whatever it was you ended up doing, being safe, and getting better from sickness.
.
Because this is the first QotD? of the New Year, we are going to have a very traditional question.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
For 2009, do you have any goals (big or small), new year's resolutions or upcoming events?
.
I can't say I've ever made a serious resolution that I've kept, so I'm not going to start now. Which is why I allowed for 'goals.' I think that's a better way for me to look at the things I want to do. Some goals include: excersize more, get a house, visit friends more, peepy chicken art, and write myself a monthly update (so I'll have details to match my memories). I haven't gotten quantitatively detailed in my goals, but that will allow me to modify them through the year.
