Happy New Year! 6/9

Dear QotD?ers,

It is cold. I just turned on the electric blanket and checked the thermometer. 30º! Don't worry, our outside exposed pipes are wrapped in case it gets much colder tonight and stays that way. MMM, electric blanket.

The saddest thing for me in 2009 was my kitten Toottles being put to sleep. We went home for Christmas and the first time I was walking through the house I almost called for her. (so then there was crying)

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What are some of the best times you had in 2009?

Next week I'm going to ask about your 2010 resolutions/goals, so start thinking. For inspiration or guidance, feel free to check out TamiJean's recent post on her blog titled Preparing for Resolutions.

Love,
The Asker

We had lots of adventures this year, taking Annelise to several different beaches (in more than one country, even!), going on our first 'family' vacation, and seeing our families in Orlando/going to Disney World.

And really the best thing about 2009 was that we made so many amazing new friends. Everyone moves so much in the military that we're constantly saying goodbye to old friends, so it's nice to make new ones!

@ Minears,

Did you arrive in Japan with Annelise in tote, or was she born there?

I got a call yesterday from Wolf Clothing Supply in Chicago asking me if they needed me to send a pacakge of used gloves, mittens and earmuffs to my home, as they were sure Texans do not know where to get these things. Then I was asked if I was going to watch the game last night, and when I asked "Game?", Wolf Clothing Supply suggested that the state of Texas was errant in allowing me to live here, as I seem to have no clue about the importance of football and I never made my boys play the game. It was suggested that I be stoned as I crossed the Red River. I told Wolf Clothing to keep their stinking mittens!!

Honestly, 2009 was a very even year for me. No big highs, no big lows. Lots of daily silliness, but nothing more than the phone I got yesterday.

I guess the highs this year were celebrating with family. We got to spend their birthdays with our kids Justin and Kristen and Lauren and Ben, now that they have moved back to Texas. We got to celebrate with Justin and Kristen the day they got the keys to their new home. We got to see Dennis' uncle's family on our visit to NM. We were able to attend my neice's engagement party and meet her fiance. We had a large family gathering at my sister's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And most of all, we had our whole family together on Christmas Day! That was an unexpected surprise.

I have to add a few special celebration that I forgot...now that our family group is growing. We were invited to spend a Labor Day celebration with the Svateks at Justin and Kristen's house and we had Sabrina's parents over for Christmas Dinner. Everyone in the family got to meet her delightful parents and her mother brought Brazilian flan! Yummmm.

I don't know, really. My years are full of highs. Every time Ninners hides behind a shoe and hunkers down to "surprise attack" my socky feet, I consider that a high.

I finished my first intentional book manuscript and realized that I need help figuring out how to edit it. Another fantastic year in my growth as a writer, and one I really enjoyed.

I started a writing/reading podcast this year, and I've had a blast doing that with my friend Bre.

I started Choose, my interactive webserial, and have had SO much fun sharing that particular writing journey with my readers. (And every once in a while, Kristen comes over and starts up a revolution to get the option with rainbow sprinkles in it to be the winner!)

So yeah. I dunno. I made new friends, accomplished goals, relaxed in my free time and generally lived a full, happy year. It wasn't punctuated with deaths or births or weddings or new houses, but it was still pretty memorable.

P.S. Eee, you DID link me! *twirls*

I would think teaching this summer in California was one of the funnest and rewarding times I've had in a long while. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time at Christmas with my grandparents this year.

@Anne, Annelise was born in Texas in 2008, we moved to Japan when she was almost 2 months old.

All family times are great times!
We went to several weddings in 2009 and weddings are joyous occassions. I went to several baby showers and those are also 'happy times'. Going on the 'Polar Express' with Gwyneth and Alyssa and watching the world thru their eyes is invigorating! Christmas this year at our house...even though it was after Christmas day was wonderful. Again...its great family time!!!

Going camping in January, turning 21, Lynsey getting married, visiting Kristen and Justin's NEW HOUSE, getting my Aggie Ring! A lot of positive relationship things happened as well.

I'm sure I left something very important out; it was a great year.

Angel-A, I love hearing about all of your beach adventures. Sea glass is fascinating!

Anne, Are you good friends with Wolf CLothing Supply in CHicago? because otherwise that phonecall is really creepy.

2nd Mom, It's always fun getting together to eat food and have fun!

TamiJean, You accomplished a lot as a writer in 2009!

Amanda, as I sit here shivering I can only think "mm, california, warmmmm"

Mom, did you get pictures on the Polar Express? That would have been neat to experience.

Jackie, that's some pretty good stuff!

Sweetie Pie, did the grocery store throw her a birthday party!?!
