Thanksgiving 2/3

Dear QotD?ers,
.
BRRRR. it was below 50ºF this morning and definatelly one of those days where you realize your regular socks aren't going to cut it. Therefore, I am wearing my super warm sock combo - thin nylon rainbow socks & thick, sweater-like blue socks. My feet are doing pretty good. For those of you you actually have work today (because you aren't a teacher and don't have oodles of vacation) I hope nothing crazy comes up. Oh, and vote Brooke Burke for DwtS champion.
.
Today 's Question of the Day? is:
.
What are five things you are thankful for?
.
.
.
1) My uncle's recovery
2) Amanda's safety
3) A husband who loves me even when i get a little crazy
4) Stable jobs
5) New QotD?!
.
Love,
The Asker

1) Awesome wife who likes the same stuff that I do
2) Cool job working with computers (even if most people never get to see the 'cool' parts)
3) Fun toys
4) 9/80 Fridays off
5) Not being on-call during Thanksgiving Break

Another cool captcha: flammen (as in, not the Turkey)

1) My husband. Nuff said.
2) Puppies and kittens and absurdly adorable things that make me smile.
3) Uplifting, peppy music (Kristen, I forgot to add Jesse Cook to the list on your LJ)
4) Snow and other examples of everyday magic.
5) Imagination.

1) Bob and the three wonderful kids he has shared with me. Couldn't have that without him!!
2) Living in a country that provides us all with a high standard of living.
That's it. Everything else is just gravy. I have people that I love, we are all healthy and we live in a great country where we can pursue our dreams.

I don't know if it means anything, but I don't have the extreme issues with cold hands and feet that once plagued me. (and my nose, too, by the way.) Since I had kids, the coldness of my extremities has been much less severe. Could be that I weigh more, but after Jake was born I still only weighed about 125 for a few years and my hands and feet were much warmer already. And putting on another 15 pounds did not make my hands or feet warmer than before, so I think it had something to do with becoming a mom. Weird.

Anne, my mom has mentioned this phenomminnnom as well. Motherhood does weird things.

Kristen,

Back in the day, when I was still smart, I came up with a few theories. One is about motherhood, and so far I have NOT proven the theory wrong.

The theory states that immediately upon getting pregnant, a woman's mind taps into the univeral stream of knowledge and insight. In order to become a mother, a woman must give up some of her own intelligence and insight and take in some of the knowledge needed for motherhood. This is way all mothers say similar things, how they can anitcipate what a child is about to do and why all mothers become somewhat daffy and confused.

I thought this was hilarious until I became pregnant. Because I swear to God, it starts right away! And gets worse with each child and each passing year. I would like to say that this only happened to ME as a means to punish me for my theory in the first place, but just ask a mom.

The hands and feet must also be affected by the universal stream of knowledge.
