Hello Dolly

Dear QotD?ers,

It looks like the first gulf hurricane of the season is going to miss us. Hooray! We should probably work on our hurricane kit, but haven't yet. It rained pretty hard last night, though.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What is a random fact about one of your favorite things?
.
Please avoid using a person as your favorite 'thing.' Please include what your favorite thing actually is in your answer. 'Fact' can mean scientific, historical, well documented OR a truth about your relationship or experience with your favorite thing.
.
.
Love,
The Asker
.

One of my favorite things in my house
is a print of a little girl, standing in the corner, with a 'sad' collie(like Lassie) standing by her.
I had seen this same type picture at various times in my life....in people's homes, at antique shops, etc. I finally did purchase one for myself, with a beautiful frame for almost nothing at our church's rummage sale about 3 years ago. It has the colors of our new sofa, drapes
and matches perfectly. It looks like it belongs there! All for a very minimal price. I loved the show, Lassie, as a child.

I love the fact that it is speculated that in Mesopotamia, liptcik was made from crushed semi-precious stones. And Cleopatra used crushed carmine beetles to make her lips red, but she was a floozy anyway.

Love lipstick...always have

The Asker,

Honestly? A screaming car alarm would be more effective than tennis balls popping on your forehead? Hard to just tune out a tennis ball aimed at your skull! I think the Nadal alarm would be amazingly effective in waking people up.

Oh, and sorry for my typing errors in the previous post.

my favorite thing is the quilt i bought from a sales bin at bed bath and beyond before college started.

the 'fact' is that i bought this quilt to brighten up my pretty drab comforter in my dorm room, but there was NO air conditioning (or not enough to count), and that quilt is the ONLY thing i used for covers my ENTIRE first year of college.

it has, since i purchased it, been on every trip i've ever been on, and i cannot get a good night's sleep without it.

best $18 i ever spent.

my favorite thing in my house today is my bed, even though i have been somewhat of a stranger to it the last few days. an interesting fact about my bed is that it is a pillow-top queen bed that both of my sisters and i have all claimed as our own at one time or another.
