greeeeeeeeen

Dear QotD?ers,

It was St. Patricks Day! I wore a green long sleeved t-shirt, a green print t-shirt, a green sweater, double layers of green socks and green shoes. AWESOME. I love really random excuses to theme dress in a work appropriate way. and I had a green snack in the afternoon.

I am going to choose a big gala type event. Something where I get to wear a super fancy dress that someone picks out just for me. and they do my hair and makeup and I look famous. oh, and Justin gets to be in a tux, and then we go down a red carpet and the papparazzi is all who's that? they don't look famous. and then I would sit amongst famous movie stars and watch presentations of dancing and music in between awards presentations or speaches promoting a cause. And in the bathroom I meet Kristen Wiig, Sandra Bullock, Whoopi Pizza Hat (who's wearing a pizza hat), Taylor Swift (because she's adorable) and we all make fun of Kristen Stewart. Meanwhile, while waiting for their wives/dates, Justin has met Tom Hanks, that guy who plays Dr. Who, NPH and Bill Nye. And everyone who has a cat invites me to cat sit when they are off doing something! HOORAY!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Did you wear green? or do anything St. Patrick would be proud of?

Love,
The Asker

For all you good Irish Catholics, my father went to St. Columcille's School in Chicago. He laughed with me this week because St. Patrick's was a holy day of obligation for the students at St. Columcille's. He said that the nuns had that date tattooed on there arms so no one would forget. As if a nun would let you forget any holy day of obligation!

(And to help my dad remember those days, Jessica was born on St. Joseph's Day, another holy day of obligation!!)

None of us got tattooed or went to mass. We did paint Jessica's room as part of her birthday celebration, though. I like to rather think of it in the sense that we gave our time to provide a service to a deserving soul, which for a holy day is pretty good stuff.

@ Asker,

Nobody really keeps up with the laureates unless they are in those fields. As in, I have no idea who wins them in ecomonics ever. I just am familiar with those researchers and their work. I miss that and would love to spend an eveing listening and talking.

Well, I did not wear that much green, but I did wear something with green in it. I did buy some flowers for the table and there were white with lots of pretty green, and looked like something appropriate for St. Patrick's Day.
Eating green..........we had hamburgers with lettuce and really good slices of avacadoes. I went for a walk with Matthew's dog, Sadie, and we enjoyed the 'green' that is popping up everywhere.

And you know what, we spent a lot of 'green'..........we bought a new washer/dryer.

Good Morning, Anne!
Hope you and family are enjoying spring break! I see we are up and at the computer at the same time!

I wore green but had an otherwise un-celebratory St. Patrick's Day. Boring Tami is boring.

Kathleen,

Good morning! I actually slept in this morning, and I will assume you did as well! We went to the orthodontist on Tuesday and saw everyone we ever knew there!! Otherwise, we have been attending to projects, but nobody is complaining about the work and we are all excited to have things cleaned and freshly painted. So it is a good spring break! Tomorrow is a no work day, though!! Ice cream and cake and cake! Ice cream and cake and cake!

@ TamiJean,

One of my children declared the other day that they will be naming their child Tami Jean. When I asked what they would do if it is a boy, they said the name will be Gene Tami, which you can pronounce to sound either French or Japanese.

Heros are never boring, even when they dress up like boring newspaper reporters. You didn't fool me with that post!!

Nope no green. I figure having almost completely Irish heritage (my Dad kind of ruined it a bit with some German...) I get out of silly stuff like that.

We did eat Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Potatoes (with mustard!)- but I don't think St. Patrick would care. He wasn't American. That's an Irish-American thing.

@Anne
I hope you talked them out of the name 'Tami Jean'! I never did like my name, thought it made me sound like a cheerleader.

The 'Tami' part, anyway. 'Jean' is actually based on my father's name, which is 'Gene'. You have clever children. Also, repronouncing "Gene Tami" as Japanese or French will probably amuse me for the rest of the day. <3

@Sweetie Pie
Happy pre-birthday!

Anne, Mr. Ken is one of the most interesting men on the planet.

Mom, washer and drier! oh good, those things were on their last legs.

TamiJean, liar!

Skittl, that took some effort, excellent meal choice. I don't know that I've ever had corned beef.

That is the easiest meal in the world. It's actually the first one I made for Kevin and friends after we were married. I was so proud of myself for putting out a fantastic spread, until he pointed out that all I did was boil stuff.

Throw the corned beef in a pot of water and boil, throw the potatoes (peeled) in a pot of water and boil, throw the cabbage in a pot of water and boil. Easiest meal ever.

If you need an intro to corned beef- go with a Reuben first. So good.
