Dream Being

Dear QotD?ers,

The day started off loudly raining, stayed raining on my commute, but then I was inside for 10 hours and didn't notice. I got to use my rainbow umbrella in the morning, which was wonderful. I love that umbrella.

I would pick a chicken, Swiss Family Robinson Style. Fish riding would be too swift for me with too many dimensions of travel. Not to mention bigger fishes that would chase and eat us! I imagine that, wherever giant rideable chickens are, there are not many natural preditors to worry about.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What's the strangest thing you've ever been in a dream?
this could be actual transformation (a whale, Tom Hanks) or role (fireman) or object of crazyness (been attacked by confetti monsters)

Love,
The Asker

The strangest thing I have ever been in a dream was part of a chemical equation. That dream seemed to repeat itself for a while. I would see myself as part of whatever chemical reactions I was learning at the time. Clearly, dreams inspired by organic chemistry.

First, thanks Jeannie. That is a good idea. But in the past, I have taken Mom on a trip to Greece, arranged a family reunion in Nashville and taken her and my daughter to Georgia to visit her sister. Now I do not have discretionary income for such things. Maybe I should have qualified that I have all of $2.50 for spending money each month now. But maybe I can take her to a museum. Sigh.

Okay, TamiJean. Personally, I think I should have gotten some kind of credit for already having shared with her previously published works. However, your comment to Fandango made me forget that I want to stomp my feet at you and your whole "start a blog" thing!

Well, this is going to sound boring, but I don't remember ever being something else in my dreams...I am always me....but at different stages of my life. I will dream that I am still in school(like elementary school) and someone is chasing me on the playground ...or perhaps in high school, decorating for a school dance...or driving thru the mountains......like on vacation.

I look forward to the other answers.

I am very rarely myself in dreams.

Far more often I am some other person, playing out a role in the story of the dream.

I had one dream that involved a castle high on a cliff which was being destroyed. I jumped between characters in that dream. The destruction had something to do with an odd blue stone which one of the ladies at the castle had made into a hundred tiny blue birds that she'd sewn on to her dress. Also, there was a black hole in the swimming pool. I remember crawling through under-castle tunnels to escape something. Probably zombies.

One of the only dreams I can remember where I was myself, my brother and I were riding through Japan, escaping an angry Japanese emperor on a horse that sometimes turned into a golf cart. At the end of the dream, the horse turned into a golf cart in the middle of a swamp, with a bunch of scary swamp monsters closing in fast. I was so disgusted with our mount (really, how was a golf cart going to work in a swamp?!) that I woke up.

Those are pretty standard dreams for me.

@ Kathleen,

If it helps make you feel less boring, Bob always ends up being the man in my dreams. If the dream starts out with some incredible guy that is deeply in love with me, in the end the face is always Bob. I have expressed to Bob that my committment to him is depressingly solid. I cannot subconsciously envision, say, George Clooney...only Bob.

Dear The Asker,
First to Smotherer of Glee, Anne: Although my knowledge of cheese may be extensive I assure you that I am not from Wiskerjohnson. To TamiJean: Its all fun and games until the insulted villian gets out his death ray. Also, You happen to be correct although not about the name or the way it gets you. The thesaurus rex uses its large proboscis to inject temporary word insanity into your body. Its closely related to my favorite pet the Jabberwocky. Lastly to The Asker: I despise the French. Their favorite phrase is: Je me rends! Prendre l'ensemble de nos moustaches et bagets! In which case I do and find that neither taste very good. Quite recently I had a dream where I went to a lab for chemistry. When I walked in through the door ravenous mols burst through the door and ate the entire class while my teacher sat back and laughed gleefully to herself.
Sincerly,
Dr. Fandango, Destroyer of insulting people

Hee hee..Smotherer of Glee!

@ TamiJean,

Curses! You win! Okay? Are you happy??

I am not starting a blog!! But your idea about giving a collection of stories had many merits. I mulled it over and over. And then I decided that I needed to improve on your idea so that your glory would not be so bright. Okay...so I will compile a collection of memories that involve my mom from all her relatives. I can read them aloud for her birthday and then present her with a nicely printed and bound copy for her to keep.

So, thanks Tami! It was a really good idea. And thanks to Jeannie and Kathleen for emphasizing that experiences are greatly valued. Maybe I could not provide a new one, but I can help her revisit old ones.

Anne, oo, academic dreams. I hated those. I had a lot of math dreams like that

Mom, you have a lot of time variety there!

TamiJean, you always have the best, most fantastic dreams. I really think you should share them more!

Dr. Fandango, I really hope they enjoyed those students with some guacamole made from fresh Avagadros.

Anne, that sounds like a good idea. I bet Sue will like it!
