I SPY: 3/5

Dear QotD?ers,

In preperation for the 5k race I intend to speed walk within the month, I have been doing some serious walking in the evenings this week. It would be completely unbearable except that I have books to read. Today I propped open a rather large hard copy upon the front hand bar of the treadmill. What, you thought I'd be walking along the street and reading? Not at my ferocious pace! Also, that would be dangerous and dumb.

Tomorrow I will post a picture of my new glasses. They make me look very mature and studious. They are my first pair of quadrilateral glasses. I think I spelled that word wrong. Oh well.

1) gamer headphones
2) little foil pouches that are supposed to keep sensative electronics safe from errant static

Today's Question of the Day? is:
You spy, with your little eye, two things that are sad. What are they?

Loooooooove,
The Asker

The projected balance of my checking account after bills this month.

The big reminder note on my desk to FINALLY send a card to Aunt Irene, who just turned 98 last week. (I did get her a birthday card, but Jessica and I are meant to send her a note every week.)

Dule noted that the intention to send Irene notes every week falls onto the shoulers of women. If I am lucky, the boys might sign their names on the cards. How does thoughtfulness become the exclusive domain of women??

This weeks card was a potato stamp of fall leaves.

My bike, because no one takes it anywhere.

"The Notebook" book, which I only made it about 1 page in before I started crying (I've seen the movie) and told Kevin not to let me read it anymore.

Well, nothing sad, but a few things that make me feel sad. A picture of my mother and Lauren on her wedding day....I miss my sweet mother. The papers I need to file that are piling up!

I don't spy her right now, but Annelise is very sad. She did not want to go to bed, then she didn't want to sleep in her own bed.

I also spy a mess. While the mess is not sad, it makes me sad to know that no matter how often I clean, there will be cheerios on the floor and dishes in the sink within hours.

@ Minears:

I feel your pain! On both those issues!

Annelise should get an extra yummy breakfast for being brave and big!

Ok, I have never seen The Notebook, but I tried to read the book and found it...horrible. Maybe they made the movie into more of a love story, but I was not able to get any passion or whatever out of the book. It seemed very amatuer. I don't think I spelled that right.

Sad is: The mess on my desk, the stains on my carpet.

* The pages of fluttery sticky notes indicating current work projects that haven't been done (CURRENT. You don't want to see pending).

* The leaf on my fern that somehow got snapped in half. It droops. Pathetically. I tried to give it a makeshift paperclip splint, but it is determined to droop.

There was a point, halfway through The Notebook movie, where (briefly) everyone was happy. I was a very bad guest and told my host we had to stop the movie there. I refused to watch the rest.

@cousin-in-law exchange program
LOL at your love fern comment. That movie turned out better than I expected.

Let's see...
Mom, that cat can surely meow very sad.
Anne, your cards are always the best.
Jessi, I haven't watched 'The Notebook' because I'm pretty sure I would cry the whole time.
Mom-in-law, that's a good picture.
Angel-A, I bet Annelise can look incredibly heart-breakingly sad.
C-I-L-V-E-P, I agree w/ TamiJean, that was hilarious!
Moo, I hate carpet stains. We have some that I call 'mustard' and 'pink highlighter' that were here before we were. boo
TamiJean, perhaps the fern needs a full out cast. I'll sign it.
Sabrina, you win. :[
Dr.Fandango, glass toasters - are toasters in general a sore subject for you or just glass ones?
