It was another mostly pleasant day outside and we enjoyed most of our lunch out there. This evening, Justin's sister and her husband came over for dinner. They hadn't seen the house yet and we got to see pictures of her trip to Brasil visiting Cuñao and Sabrina.
I'd rather just sweep, but I would sweep twice. I don't like mopping all that much. But usually when you vacuum, there is more of the house that needs vacuuming than sweeping/mopping. That was an answer, right?
Today's Question of the Day? is:
What is the most famous landmark you have ever been to? (you are welcome to list a few if you'd like)
Love,
The Asker

The National Mall in Washington, DC, although I haven't been back since they finished the WWII memorial.
Parthenon. Angel Falls probably counts as famous. If I said Copan, would anyone ooh and aaah? Not sure Copan is "famous."
Groovy Sabrina,
Our Filipino customers are astonished that their younger sister chose to stay and live in the US. As Richmann said to me, "In the US, women really have to work!!! Here in the Philippines, the women all have maids and nannys and the wives all get to shop! It is terrible and we hate it, but what are you gonna do?"
All the places in London, The canals in Amsterdam, Shakesphere's home, Does Burbon street in New Orleans count? The Hollywood sign.
I've been to most everything in Washington DC except the WWII memorial. I've seen the statue of liberty, and went up the world trade centers when it was there.
I've been to the remnants of the Berlin wall and to the Brandenburg gate.
my favorites, in order:
Macchu Picchu
Pantheon
Blue Mosque
most coveted:
Stonehenge
Parthenon
Petra
Mesa Verde
Anne, I hear that all the time, too! I love how they say "the women ALL have maids." Not exactly true...
I think Texas counts as a famous landmark. *winks*
Other than that, I don't think I've really visited any landmarks. I've seen incredible things and been incredible places, but nowhere that is considered more special than anywhere else by people who haven't been there.
All of the famous landmarks in D.C., Mt. Vernon and Monticello, all of the royal family's palaces in England/Scotland, many castles in England and Germany, canals in Amsterdam and in Belgium, Eiffel Tower and other famous places in Paris, Mesa Verde, Glaciers in Alaska and the Grand Canyon. Wow, we are a fortunate bunch to have traveled so much!
Pyramids at Giza! And Buckingham Palace! And the Loch Ness! And the White House! And the Grand Canyon! And Kennedy Space Center! And Disney World... twice!
And TEXAS!
Stonehenge is the first thing that comes to mind.
Groovy Sabrina is the one I want to travel with! She has been to the places I have on my list! Petra! The Blue Mosque!!
I nominate TamiJean to travel with my husband. He broke my heart the other day by saying that he has no interest in traveling the world, because "every place you go is wonderful. Why do you have to make the effort to see ruins that other people tell you are great?"
Since I do not disagree in principle with what he is saying, I think he and TamiJean should check the non-specific wonders of our world and let me go with Groovy Sabrina to the places that "other people tell me are cool." I would be your maid on the trip, Groovy Sabrina!! I can iron some clothes like nobody's business!!
@Anne
When I win the lottery, I shall go traveling with you and your hubby. It's not that I have no interest in travel, I just have no interest in specific landmarks. I've been to Japan and I have incredible memories of a nameless Buddhist temple, a random shopping street in Tokyo, and an unknown grocery store near Kasugai-shi. I love to travel and visit, but I don't really care that I didn't go to a specific mountain or see a specific temple. What I did experience was magical.
My most recent famous landmark trip was to the Jesus statue in Rio with Lauren and Sabrina.
We ARE a well-traveled bunch!
Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Washington DC area,
Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building...the Alamo.
That is all I can think of.
I'm tired.
ah! woops, by most "coveted" I meant the ones I most want to see! Haven't been to all those YET.
TamiJean,
I am glad you are playing the lottery for me! I really appreciate that!
I don't play the lottery.
Well, I guess I have. Two of my three kids are here due to "WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT HAPPENING?" The odds are usually less than 99.8 out of 100 times, by the way.
Groovy Sabrina,
I'll revisit the Parthenon with you, but you will have to be willing to travel through the Pelopennese and cruise the islands as part of that trip. We can go to Ephesus and into Istanbul to visit the Blue Mosque all in one fell swoop. Then we can both adventure to Petra together. I am excited!!
Hope you have a great weekend, Asker!!
