What We Ate at the Fair

Dear QotD?ers,
Justin told you what was under our beds. But this weekend I went under my old bed at my parents house (and closet) and sorted through all the things I've kept throughout the years. So what was under my old bed? Dried flowers from all the corsages and bouquets I was ever given, two boxes worth of family photos, a large box of elementry and middle school stories/art projects/notes from friends, notebook of poetry that i started in junior high.

I am incredibly dissapointed that I somehow managed to delete a picture from my camera before I got to show you. Me, Mom and Justin played Killer Bunnies on Friday night. At the end I had 7 bunnies and ~14 of the 20 carrots. the last 3 cards I played were 'choose # carrots' and I still had a choose-a-carrot card in my hand. I laughed so hard at the rediculousness of it all. Have no idea what I'm talking about? Come on over and we'll play.

So, at the fair, we got a 12" corn dog:
and saw some amazing butter sculpturing:
and got some fried butter: and ate it:If you were to take some biscuit dough, fold a pat of butter in the middle and then deep-fry, you'd get it. We got ours with some grape jelly and it was incredibly like eating a biscuit.
Before we left, I got the fried peaches and cream:
which i was actually dissapointed in. They drizzled raspberry sauce all over the plate. The fried peaches batter was like a strusel and, therefor, a little too heavy for what I wanted. But I still ate it. Sadly, I couldn't find the chocolate covered strawberry waffle balls this year.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
Do you have any halloween decorations up?
Love,
The Asker

We have a couple of pumpkin decorations out, but they're more for fall than for Halloween. I'm not really into decorating for Halloween, but hopefully we'll be spending the day at Disney World and will be immersed in decorations.

Yes, I have a few things up. I don't decorate as much as I did when my children were at home. It wouldn't be scarry stuff.....just pumpkins, jack o'lanterns, black cats, ghosts...maybe a skeleton or two. By now I would have usually had a pumpkin/straw/fall flowers
display by my front yard...and I don't have that yet.
PS
Glad you had fun at the fair.
YES, we played 'Killer Bunnies" and it was true! I sorry the picture got lost! Perhaps you could re'create it? Wouldn't be the same thing.........but you have the memory!

The guitar case is empty because the guitar sits out in the front room, but you still need the case if you are going somewhere with it. Jessica's bed is where most of the guitar cases are stored. She also has the violin case.

Nothing for Halloween decorations out yet. We worked on our design for the Christmas cards this weekend and Jessica said, "But we have like two months before Christmas." Yeah, I can remember when we had two months before Halloween!!

Sunday morning when I woke up, I found a new chair on the back porch. The chair is attached to a spring and then is attached to about three feet of rod that is further attached to a spring and "stabilized" by four legs.

When Bob finally got up, all he said was, "It is probably not a good idea to let Jacob and me stay up late and design playground equipment." I was sure he was reassigned from that job.

I have enough things going on that frighten me. I hardly need to celebrate!

I don't really do decorations for holidays. I'm looking forward to going to a Halloween party here, though. I love costumes.

I have a black cat. What more decoration does one need?

I'll admit that Halloween decorations are my favorites, but since we don't really decorate seasonally, they'd just turn into dustables in need of storage at my house.

Also, you got ALL of the carrots?! Wow! We had a game won by an underdog in possession of only a single carrot and one spared-by-pity bunny once, but we've never had only one person with carrots before!

I have a "BOO" that I bring into work. It's sitting in my car because I keep forgetting to actually bring it in. Oops.

I really need to go to the Iowa State fair next year. We've skipped it twice, and man I want to eat fried stuff! (And chocolate covered bacon)

I've been to the Texas fair once, but I honestly don't remember eating anything there. I just remember shopping and I got incense burners and we looked at quilts.

My roommate's birthday is October 31, and so Halloween is kind of a big deal around here. We have two GIGANTIC pumpkins on our front porch and a never ending supply of candy in a halloween bowl on our kitchen table. However, we won't be putting up the directions until closer to her birthday.

Our whole house is decorated for Halloween, has been since late Sept. I'm slowly building up my collection of "crap" since Addie's birthday is Halloween. BTW Kristen, if you are bored this Saturday morning and want to come up, Addie's party is at 10:30! I think we have 45 people coming already!

Dear The Asker,
I always have halloween decorations up. Anyone that is brave or stupid enough to come close to my lair will be instantly scared away by the mass collection of plastic elephants and small rotted pumkins that I have ingeniously set up outside.

We have several ceramic, candle burning jack-o-lanterns out on our couch table along with a painted wooden scrarecrow figurene. I have a fall wreath on the front door that has pumpkins and fall stuff. I will put out my wooden pumpkin, yard ornament "Give Thanks" in the yard in a few weeks.

Oh, roommate and I just put up some more decorations! We balled up old grocery bags, stuffed them in trash bags, and she drew faces on them and hung them from the tree. 'Tis the season!

Angel-A, YAY DISNEY!

Mom, I liked your decorations, especially the door wreath.

Anne, I didn't know you planned the christmas cards so early!

Sabrina, I hope you will share those costume pictures.

TJSQ, I love your decorations. I didn't have ALL of the carrots (we were playing with the red and purple sets) but I had a hilarious amount of carrots indeed.

Jessi, I've started putting up fake cobwebs in my office. Every day a little more.

Jackie, I love that you call her roommate. I did that with all 3 of mine. I still call Christi ROOMMATE when we talk. I'd love to see pictures of your decorations! They sound like fun!

Dr. Fandango, that sounds creepy indeed.

Annon/2nd Mom? Pumpkin stuff - I need to get some of those seasonal type decorations.
