Spookaween: 4/5

Dear QotD?ers,

I'm still really proud of my 'bag full of jellybeans, I mean, rainbow licorice' costume. That's probably the most creative one i've ever come up with.

Tonight we sealed the granite countertop of our island. Tomorrow we'll see how well it worked.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What's the most memorable Halloween you've had?

Love,
The Asker

My mother planned a Halloween party for the kids on our street one year. We had no idea what she had planned, so it was a total surprise to Barbara and I. She had a fortune teller set up under the arbor in the back yard, apples tied to strings hanging from the clothes line where you tried to eat it with no hands-in a race, costume contests and other games. We had so many friends come and we all had a great time. Of course, times were simpler then and it took less to make us happy!

I loved Halloween in Washington, DC. Everyone walks around in their crazy costumes all night long, it is fantastic. We threw a costume party at our house a couple times, and that was always a blast.

Surprisingly, Halloween is even more fun as an adult than it was as a kid. And I thought after trick-or-treating the fun would pretty much be over!

word verif: PRESTO! (like magic)

Most memorable Halloween was the first one I ever celebrated in the States. We were in Miami at my grandparent's home and my aunts, who were really beautiful, cool, hippie chicks, helped us with outfits and trick or treating. That was fun!!

Also, on that visit, I was introduced to the Beatles by my aunts. I remember sitting in Debbie's room while we listened to their albums and they smoked cigarettes, blowing the smoke out the cracked window and making me swear not to tell.

This summer, Nick said that my aunts were two of the most UNLIKELY people to ever have been hippies!! He doesn't know how beuatiful, cool and totally hiipie they were!!

IF this was actually the swine flu, and anyone wants my first-hand account, I would have to say it is definitely NOT the worst case of flu I have dealt with.

Probably the year we had a Halloween party at our house.
My costume was...meh...a witch....but our neighbor was a really good vampire. He was really scary!
We played Win, Lose, or Draw
and with costumes it was really
great fun! We laughed A LOT that night.
I remember I hung black thread about every 2-3 inches in front of our front door........and everyone
thought they were really going thru spider webs! ;)

Mom-in-law, a fortune teller? How did she find one of those?

Sabrina, I'm jealous of all of your halloween parties.

Anne, oo, I'm sorry to hear that you are sick with any sort of flu.

Mom, I like this black thread idea. I might try to do it for our trick-or-treaters

Asker: No real fortune teller..just a nice neighbor who volunteered to help out! We were kids, we fell for it.
