there's no slime in the ice machine

Dear QotD?ers,
.
We had a home cooked dinner tonight, watermellon on the back patio (i got 3 mosquito bites on my left foot), and fresh-out-of-the-oven brownie and cup o' milk. This living in a house thing is pretty good so far. All of the extra clothes hangers are in the apartment, however, which makes ironing things difficult.
.
If anyone can find out why 'potatoes' is 'bubbles', I'd like to know.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Why does our ice-maker make clackety noises?
.
Love,
the Asker

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new house! Maybe the moving parts in your ice maker needs WD40.
The name, bubbles and squeak, is said to come from the sounds the potato-cabbage mixture makes as it cooks (some say it's from the sounds one's stomach makes after eating bubble and squeak).

agreed - WD-40!

I would guess potatoes as bubbles because they're round. Ish. Some potatoes are rounder than others.

I'm at a loss on the ice maker - I'm assuming if it was just the CLANK CLATTER of ice being dropped, you wouldn't be asking. *grins*

Woot for househood! Have the superspy neighbors gotten any friendlier?

I forgot you once had slime in your ice machine.

Is it a new refrigerator?

I am going to go with little ice gremlins that follow you around and torment you with perplexing questions.

It may be the ice bucket cycling, or it may be the pumps moving water through the system so it doesn't get stagnant.

The friendly neighbors are real nice. We should have them over for food and games sometime.

We still haven't spoken with They Who Live To The Left yet, but we did find three dogpoops on our driveway when we got home.

Because all ice makers do? I've never heard a quiet one.

As for bubbles- I always assumed it was the boiling water, and then squeak was the eating.

(The first big meal I made after I got married I made corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. We had friends over and afterward I was so proud of myself. Kevin took me down a notch when he pointed out that I didn't really "cook" I just boiled 3 seperate pots of water.)
