I wore my gloves/mittens today and they worked wonderful at keeping my hands (if not my fingertips) warm and cozy. It was fantastic! Other than that, it was a pretty regular day. went to work, had lunch, did some more work, came home, had dinner. Lots of laundry involved. I need to fold another load shortly.
Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me , an NPR news-quiz show, will be taping in Houston in February. We love that show and will be trying to buy tickets to see it. Should we get the cheap seats, since it's a radio show and there's nothing to look at? or good seats, so we can see the people we never get to see when we listen over the radio? hmmm.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
What game or activity did you do over Christmastime that you really enjoyed?
We did a Christmas puzzle at Mom's house! It's sort of a tradition in my family to get puzzles and do them while everyone is there for Christmas, but we don't do it every year. Jackie took on the blue starry sky - the most challenging of the village scene. I did the reindeer and various building parts. Getting to the end, when there are only 20, a dozen, 5, three puzzle pieces left(!) is always thrilling.
Love,
The Asker

My family always gets together to play games at Christmas. The Sylvesters play Joker and Murder and the Johnsons play Canasta and whatever I can talk them into playing that isn't Canasta.
Since we were nowhere near our families this year, we played Guitar Hero at Derick and Lisa's house and had a blast! I am a horrible singer and sound even worse when paired with my friend Kat, but John got pretty good at the drums.
This year we got Scrabble Apple. Jessica smoked us all the first time we played!
We don't have a tradition of relaxing and playing games, as in years past the tradition has been running around like crazed people going from one gift opening to another. That is why I was so glad to have Christmas Day to ourselves. It was very great.
I say get the good tickets and enjoy it.
Jacklyn, your mom is right. Not only will pearls be timelessly elegant, but you can wear them with everything!!
Asker, it does beg the question of whether any or all of us need a therapist, but in fact none of us have ever gone.
Some of these are new games and some are not......all are fun...in no particular order. Pentago, LCR, Bananagrams, Dominoes. The Christmas puzzle by Ravensburger(Germany) looks great and we will start the wintery puzzle(Thomas Kinkade) today? Putting a puzzle together at Christmas at our house, depends on the timing...... ha
Growing up Martin said they would have 2-3 puzzles going at one time. I guess with 11 children you need more than one puzzle, huh?
Hope everyone is still enjoying the Christmas Holidays!
Snow yesterday....even if it did not 'stick'!
Question,
When opening gifts at Christmas, do you all open at the same time
or go around and open one while everyone watches?
I wish we knew someone who played Canasta!
I haven't played in years!
Oh yeah.........on the tickets.........get the good ones!
*laughs* Rock Band! My mom surprised us with a visit and she's our drummer. We always have a blast with that game. Exponentially more fun the more people you add.
No clue on the tickets...I don't really go...out...and like...do things. At best, I have movie tickets, and then it's first come first serve!
Avatar 3D IMAX was amazing! And the two games of Settlers of Catan were awesome. Wii Sports Resort was fun, too.
We got the nosebleed tickets since I have binoculars from work. And the tickets were delivered to the blackberry instantly. No little paper to lose!
You know we really didn't do much of anything.
We did go over to a friends house and play Carcassone- but they always kick our butts in it. It's still fun though.
The Killer Bunnies game was well recieved by my SIL. Now I want to get one so I can finally play this game!
Angela, The Sylvester games sound fun and I don't think I've heard of them before.
Anne, I wonder how close Scrabble Apple is to Bananagrams...
Mom, I'm jealous of your snow, and will make your question tomorrow's QotD?
TamiJean, we need to get our parents more interested in Rock Band. It is tons of fun!
Justin, we should play Settlers of Catan more often.
Jessi, We haven't heard of Carcassone before, but rest assured that now Justin wants to play it. Man, Killer Bunnies is really getting around!
Oh, have fun seeing WWDTM! That's exciting.
While it isn't really an "activity", what I really enjoyed about Christmas was being able to do all the Christmasy activities with both my and Matthew's families. Were not married so it's not like we have an "obligation" to divide the holidays, but we enjoy spending time with each others' families and I'm glad that it worked out that we were able to spend lots of time with everyone.
And I enjoyed the puzzle as well. Even though taking on the night sky meant that I put the least pieces together.
Oops- it's actually spelled Carcassonne
It's a Settlers of Catan style game. You draw a tile to build a board and then you claim roads, cities and fields to score points.
Another one to try is Tsuro- you take tiles to make paths and the goal is for a path not to lead you off the board or crash into another player
well..... I guess playing Just Dance!
Jackie, we like you too. It's fun to hear about Matthew's interactions with your family too. You are the unofficial puzzle master! that sky was hard!
Jessi, you are just full of games! Where do you hear about all of them?
Sweetie Pie, Can you get all of your family to play along?
