carded

Dear QotD?ers,

Did you wish Justin a Happy Birthday? I forgot to mention it in yesterday's QotD?, but I told him about 50 times today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!

I think I'd enjoy a scenic boat ride more. It's slower, more time to look around and without the scaryness of flying. I find small planes scary.

I'm up real late. I don't have work tomorrow, so I've been addressing and personallizing your christmas cards this evening. I should get them in the mail tomorrow!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Do you send Christmas cards? How do you pick them or choose the design?

Love,
The Asker

Yes, I send Christmas cards!

We try to pick out designs that we have not done before, but there really is a limit to that. Also, I have tried to come up with designs that fit the ages of my kids and what they are (or have been) able to do. Over the last few years, the cards have had lots of glitter on them, which I think is a very tell-tale sign that a young girl is quite involved!!

I rarely take time to write personal messages, though. It takes a fair amount of time to make the cards, so I really don't feel badly about that.

Our cards will be ready to mail on Monday...I hope.

I was up really early this morning!
I ran out of steam last night and went to bed early.
Yes, I send Christmas cards as well.
I usually try to buy 2 types of Christmas cards. One that is religious...with a beautiful picture of the Nativity and another with a nice, traditional picture of Santa.

I send Christmas cards and now that we have a kid they are photo cards. Last year we printed them at Wal-Mart but this year Ijust had photos printed and am putting them in photo-ready cards. Next year I'm going back to ordering cards from Wal-mart, this year's cards are a lot of work. I usually go for something elegant and require that the card says something about Christmas instead of Happy Holidays or Season's Greetings. Ideally I'd go for a religious card, but my sense of style trumps my yearning for a scripture passage; it's difficult to find a card that's elegant AND religious. Unless you're my friend Jessica who spends a lot of money having cards specially printed with multiple photos and a scrpture passage. I just don't have that kind of money.

If I send you a Christmas card, then I take the time to write a note. I buy packs of cards designed by the Art students at my school. One of my students this year won the Superintendant's card design contest. I probably give out more cards than I mail...sorry postal service. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! again today, Justin.

I don't do Christmas cards. I tried one year, and I found the time commitment I put into adding a personalized phrase, finding the right address, stamping, and hitting the post office for them (and the anxiety that I might FORGET someone who would be offended by it) just wasn't worth the small burst of happiness I felt when I got a Christmas card.

I like getting the ones from my family that include a family photo, though. Like if they have kids, and maybe I don't get to see them but a few times a year, it's nice to have a picture of them, and in that case, I feel like there's a real purpose behind the sending.

some years yes, some years no, and usually only to my family who I don't see very often. This year I am trying to send some. I am with TamiJean on this one all the way.

I try to send Christmas cards. I generally buy cheap ones the day after christmas. And I often do repeats. I've sent out a photo once, but usually we lack a photo to send.

Happy Birthday Justin! (He shares his birthday with the new Duggar)

When my children were young,we did send cards with photos...sometimes just the children, sometimes the whole family. I love getting cards with photos. I have never done the 'long' Christmas letter. I usually find them pretentious.
I will write a note inside the card as time allows.

Anne,
next time you are at FSMS, come by and say hello!

Daryl and GroovySabrina,

Making your own cards is fun, but I do it with chidlren. I am not sure I would have the same experience if it were just Bob and me making cards. I remember the year I got Bob to help wrap gifts. They were wrapped in plain brown paper, duct tape, nuts, bolts zip ties and any other loose hardware he could find and glue to the packages. Not so sure I want Christamas cards to be made by Bob.

Kathleen,

I am planning on being there Wednesday next week. I will come by third period. I hope you are doing something fun in the class that day! I can be your little elfin helpeer.

Anne, have Nick and Jake been involved in the card design process the past few years?

Mom, I got the Santa!

Angel-A, People love pictures of kids in their christmas cards, always an excellent choice.

2nd Mom, getting cards designed by the art students is a really great idea. Congratulations to your student!

TamiJean, you will love our christmas card

Sabrina, are christmas cards a part of south american culture?

Jessi, I try to keep track of who I sent the snowman and the santas to, so to avoid sending the same one to the same person twice. I think it's worked out alright.

Daryl! welcome back. I'm glad that you'll be signing the cards.

Last year we sent snowflake cards, and Jacob, Nick and Tommy W. were all active participants! The boys like to come up with design IDEAS more than they like to cut, paste and glitter. They do help, but their interest level is minimal.
