both spitters?

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Oh wait! There's still one more weekday this week! I better ask you a question now or I risk sleeping through the morning and leaving you with none. Aww, that would be sad.
.
I've ridden on big yellow school busses. I commuted to a summer job by DART bus and light rail, other train type modes in: Atlanta, New York/Jersey. Ferries: to Galveston, to Ellis Island.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Alpaca or Llama?
.

Love,
The Asker
.
P.S. It's gotten very cold here today. And since the climate in which I am is the only one that matters: STAY WARM!!!!

Llama.

Jacklyn,

Hey, we will be home for spring break, too!

My oldest loved middle school. In fact, he has been up there all this week doing community service in the library. However, he is thinking about attending a different high school. There happens to be a STEM high school in Waxahachie that interests him. He could graduate with up 30 hours of college credits...but there is no band program!!! Big decision.

Alpaca!

Llamas are twice as big as alpacas and were bred to be pack animals rather than to provide wool. Alpacas are just so huggable!

Llama.

Oh boy, the words middle school STILL give me chills. I believe my classmates escaped from zoo cages and then roamed and lurked in the halls of my school. I hope they are back in their cages now.

There are books about Llamas. One is "Llama, Llama, Red Pajama" and the new one is "Llama, Llama, Mad at Mama". I have not read them, but I have seen them and not only do the titles make me smile, but the pictures are very cute. So I will have to say llama.

Steven Kellogg, one of our favorite illustrators, did the work on "Is Your Mama a Llama?" I have read "Llama, llama, Red Pajama" and it is fun. There is also a band in Texas, Houston I believe, named Mama Llama.

Plus, being the mother of the looming fifteen year old, I have an affinity for oversized animals that seem to have no useful purpose beyond being big!!

Groovy Sabrina, yeah, middle school is full of insanity and insecurity. Not the best years of anyone's life.

Alpaca. Simply because they can fit in my car.

Anne,

Hm, I haven't heard about that school, but if he could graduate with college hours, that would be awesome!

What does he play in band? I was a trumpet player and miss Mr. Arroyo and Mr. Doran. Heh.

Jacklyn,

Mr. Arroyo is gone and Ms. Gomez now leads the honor band. Looming son is a bassoonist in the honor band. Band is where all his friends are and he loves music.

The school in Waxahachie is new, of sorts. The building is old, but the program is new. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math is what STEM stands for and they offer internships through the shcool, along with dual credits for HS and college. Gov. Perry started the program a few years ago and funding is provided by Michael Dell Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. There are only a small number of these schools across the state as yet.

But no band.....NONE. And while some people have pointed out that he can still pursue music through churches and community events, it would not be the same.

Anne,
I went to one of those Science/Technology schools for high school. It was fantastic. No band, no sports, drastically different from a typical American high school. But it was perfect for me.

Groovy Sabrina,

Tell us more! We are very interested, so insight from someone who has that experience would be great!
