Dear QotD?ers,

There has been some pretty serious drama surrounding QotD? the past few days, and I've been able to shelter you from it. Sadly, though, I've come to the conclusion that I can no longer keep up with this blog.

Thanks for your support, and don't forget to stay in touch!

It's like pretending, but with a very specific focus?
Dear QotD?ers,
.
Today, as we were making the exit for our vanpool, everyone got real excited. Justin even pointed at what the excitement it was. So I looked up from my book. It was a car. Granted, it was a small car, just bigger than a pope-mobile, but it was so amazing that 10 of the male passengers need to look at it and comment on it to each other.
.
I've had yellow/summer squash, sphaghetti squash (and if you haven't tried it, you need to. it's CRAZY), butternut and acorn.
.

*mythology and literature sources accepted, question care of Justin.

not the game? that's a lame title.
Dear QotD?ers,
.
Friday night we went to a hockey game. It was me and Justin's first ever. We had a great time eating cotton candy, heckling hockey players, watching kids mock the dancing girls, watching little kids playing hockey. Hockey is probably the most exciting professional sport game I've been to. Way more than baseball and basketball. I haven't been to a soccer game yet, so that's next. But I would say that all of you should go to a hockey game.

Dear QotD?ers,

The last birthday 'party' I attended was for my older brother. The last party that had cake was Justin's. the last party that was actually a full out party was my younger brother. There was a giant cookie cake. I love birthdays. I really enjoy the big hoopla and all the positive attention that the birthday person should get. I will be one of those moms that always throws their kid a birthday party. Even if it's just a sleepover with pizza and a talent show. But I will make sure my kid wins the talent show, Mom!

Dear QotD?ers,

I got my hair last cut in January, right before the end of the month. I'm not used to having bangs, so I don't have a schedule set up to go back to get them trimmed. There's lots of layers now, and I wouldn't ask my mom to try to replicate that. (she trimmed my bangs growing up. did you know that?) I need to make an appointment because my bangs are taking over my face again.
.
Today was Tuesday, and it went almost as fast as my Monday. The morning was fast on account of three meetings. the afternoon was fast on account of doing lots of work. Then I rode the van home, read some and took a nap. And because it's Spring Break, I didn't have class... so I ate dinner and played computer games. That Lydia can motivate my exercize habits in a way I cannot. But my neck and left shoulder feel real sore. I'm not sure why.
.
Ok, that was a lot of random stuff about my day with no actual point. Well, I didn't have one OH WAIT! This is the week of Birthdays! My niece's birthday was today (tuesday) and my dad's birthday is today (wednesday). And my sister-in-law is on friday. None of them participate (and the niece has a really good excuse, being only 6(!!)), but I still like to think of them.

The Velveeta themed pot-luck lunch turned out much better than expected. Everything was delicious. I like cheese. My fronteir pie was a big hit, even though the cornbread wasn't completely done. oh well.
I LIKE CORN, I really do. It surprises me when I eat something with corn, or cornbread and think man, this food is goood . I cannot thing of a prepared corn dish that I have not enjoyed.

Dear QotD?ers,
.
That was a weekend! I always wish they would last longer. Good news, the library is open again - It had been closed since Hurricane Ike. I have two books to read, hooray! Bad news, the cute green shoes I really wanted to get were not in stock at the local Shoe Carnival. If you happen to be at one, and see cute leather flats with an uneccesarily large buckle on the toe, and the style is 'Hairdo-S', and they have a 7 1/2 in green, please get them for me. I will pay for the shoes and shipping. They are adooorable.
.
Anyway, I can't believe I'm excited about shoes. That is not a thing I usually get excited about.

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I got to eat tex-mex today. I LOVE TORTILLA CHIPS! I also had a conversation today about rice-a-roni-corn-and-tuna-burritos. How many of you have had that meal? me.
It was super foggy this morning, and I had to drive up to the north side of town for a meeting. The radio traffic jokeys said things like 1/4 mile visibility. I just know it foggy enough to restrict high speed driving on the highway. Don't worry, I drove safely and arrived so. Drive home? no fog! yay!

Another episode of LOST, another episode where I have way more questions than they answered. What's new?
I ate a salad today where the grapes were almost as large as the grape tomatoes. That's a pretty big grape! I also had a strawberry that was almost as big as my fist, but despite it's beautiful red color, it wasn't super delicious. I can't wait until summer when all the fruit will taste amazing.

It was a lot of fun to imagine the foods you ate, based on just the colors. Like someone had a breakfast of purple skittles and someone else had a variety of jello. That was fun!
.
Sometime during our commute home, the big square cassarole dish broke. I'm not sure how that happened during it's stationary trip in the back of the van, but suspect that someone slammed the back door after rearranging things. ceramic between two hard places = broken. It was quite a surprise to open carrying pack to find the lid fine.. but the dish itself was in many pieces.

While having lunch together in the lunchroom, Justin and I saw something very strange. A small bubble was floating up from my feet. We began to see other, tiny bubbles, just a few, around our table and moving rather fast. How curious!
We eventually realized that someone had washed their dish on the sink way over there... made bubbles, and that the lunch room had quite a draft.

Dear QotD?ers,

I grew up on whole milk and have forever made fun of skim milk as "water and milk." This week we are trying a move to 2%. It's perfectly fine in cereal. and I don't mind drinking it straight either. I'm a little surprised by that, being a full-fatted milk girl. But then I looked and saw that 2% only has 3g less fat than a serving of whole. I'd calculate the %fat of whole milk, but I'm not interested in looking up the densities of 2% and whole milk.
.
Good news: I'm getting out of the funky mood I collected yesterday afternoon. But I'm hungry, so maybe I'll have some milk.

denim blue, faded up to the sky
Dear QotD?ers,

Today I had another case of mistaken identity. This time involving my last name. My married name, sure, that's common enough to maybe get some wires crossed... but I'm not teaching an english class at the community college in my hometown. Eventually it was all sorted out, someone erroneously chose me (i'm on file as staff... i worked a summer camp) instead of my second cousin who's up there. Sheesh!
.
Drier. they don't dry crispy like on a line. and I guess I don't care too much on the shrinkage factor... I just wear them to-fit again.

Dear QotD?ers,

Wednesday is over. only 2/5 of the workweek left. I took a really good nap on the vanride home today. And then Fox news had this story about the ugliest cat in the world. Imagine a Rex... with a mane. Despite that, kittens are still better than puppies. Kittens are cuter, more self sufficient and can poop in an appropriate place (as Jackie pointed out). Sabrina, I love ninja cat.
Don't worry, dog lovers, I'll still be your friend.
If you have been paying attention to answers, you may have noticed we have a new QotD?ers! Her name is Stacy, but not the Stacy I grew up with. This Stacy is the wife of one of my old co-workers and she's pretty nice. I'm glad she's joining us.

Oatmeal and Cream-of-wheat sometimes, cold cereal and milk always. I only like the cinnamon & apple oatmeal. I don't know that I've eaten Cream-of-Wheat outside my parent's kitchen, and I grew sick of it, but I have fond memories of it now. If I had to eat cereal every night of the week, I'd be ookat with that. As long as it isn't regular cheerios (I prefer the honey nut) or those mini-wheat things. I haven't gotten on the train with those. My favorite 'reasonable' serials are rice chex or crispex, rice crispies or un-frosted corn flakes. My favorite un-reasonably sugary delicious cereals are honey combes, peanut butter cap'n crunch, marshmallow maites, fruit loops, rainbow pebbles.. there are so many good cereals out there!

Right now I'd choose chicken enchiladas, cassarolle style, like Mom makes. FYI: I can't spell cassarolle. maybe it has double rrs instead of double lls. But this is my portion of the internet and I'll do as I please.
Monday is over, and it wasn't that bad at all for me. I happened to look west as I was driving east for errands, and the horizon was the most beautiful shade of orange. Without the context of apartment sillouettes, I probably would not have believed such a wide band of the sky could be that vivid.
