Reagan is the one President that I can think of that walked out of office with our country in a much better state than when he walked into office.
But when I was a young Aggie and Reagan was a new president, I could not even listen to the rubbish about the Sandinistas crawling up through Central America and bringing communism into America. It was a big mantra in Aggieland at the time. I thought Reagan was a fool for spewing such nonsense.
Abraham Lincoln.....I did a lot or research on him when I taught 1 class of American History in 5th grade. I always felt like I had a 'bond' with LBJ....becoming President after the assisnation of JFK... that and as a child of 11 having the same birthday as LBJ(August 27) I sent him a birthday card with a short note and I got a letter ...complete with a picture of him and of his family(Lady Bird and their 2 daughters) I still have it.
I did feel good about our country with Reagan as President.
