Twilight: 4/5

Dear QotD?ers,

We are going to a movie tonight! As we get out, we'll see all the girls in town who will be taking vacation or 'suddenly' falling sick tomorrow. I'll let you know if there are any boys in the crowd.
my shirt explanation: twilight is the time of the evening when it's not dark and still a little light.. grey! new moon is when the moon is completely enshadowed, leaving a dark sky... black! It's lame, but i'm going with it.

There are a few famous Kristen's. other than the lame-o that has the lead part in the Twilight saga, there's Kristen Wigg of SNL! (she's my favorite famous Kristen) and the lady alien in Third Rock from the Sun was a Kristen too.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
What is the most drama filled experience from your teenage years?

Love,
The Asker

For yesterday's question, Angela Lansbury.

For today's question, cheerleader tryouts at the end of Junior year. I was the only soon-to-be Senior trying out (very small school, we had issues), there was one almost-Sophomore and the rest were soon-to-be Freshmen, including my sister, two first cousins, a third cousin, and a more distant cousin. My Aunt Carla was the cheer coach and when the Sophomore and a couple of other girls made the JV squad while my sister, first cousins, and the distant cousin all made the Varsity squad. There was major drama because people were accusing my aunt of choosing only people who were related to her for Varsity, never mind that the third cousin made JV. How do you explain to a mean, angry with the world(for other reasons) girl that her sister's tryout basically sucked in a larger school she wouldn't have made any squad at all? The battle cry was taken up by some other troublemakers and I had to deal with it until graduation the next year.

Oh, Justin, I remember that...so sorry!
Not much drama....I really did not like the games kids played like that. I got/get into more trouble being too blunt.

Any and all big drama episodes in high school (or my life) had to do with my brother, the one person that I was linked to no matter what.

The best story there was probably this one.

My parents had LEFT THE COUNTRY, never a good sign with teenage kids involved in the story. I was staying with my best friend for the week or so that they were gone. I really don't remember if Steve was with friends or if he stayed home alone (other brother was at a friends), but I do know that I was left with all the paperwork. Wills, important financial information and emergency contact numbers, as well as the "authority" to make minor decisions for the family while they were gone. As I was a 15 year old, this made me a bit nervous.

Steve had been given one clear rule: Do not drive the car except for emergencies IN TOWN. Emergencies would have included needing to pick up a sick brother or sister and little else.

Steve called me several times about this matter, as the drill team banquet was coming up and he and his girlfriend did not want to double date...that was for losers. He wanted to borrow other people's cars, as this would not be driving OUR car out of town. In the end, Steve found a way to convince himself that he did not need to follow that rule and that he was not going to embarrass his girlfriend by making them double date. So, he drove the car into Dallas on a Saturday night.

The car got stolen. (Yeah, the keys were bulky and annoying, so Steve just shoved them under the seat, making the story even better for a little sister! That and the fact that they had to catch a ride home with another couple, making it a DOUBLE DATE, was great irony for me!!)

Oh, there was drama! I got to handle most of that mess, firstly by insisting that Steve call the police that night. He wanted to just come on home and then lie about the whole thing. I made him stay and file a report.

The car was found in Victoria, Texas when a sherrif heard a noise outside his home and found someone siphoning gas out of his car. A police chase ensued for almost an hour before the guy was apprehended. There was spilled gas and liquor in the trunk of the car, which gave it a nice odor for several weeks. My mom went down to pick up the car. She had come home first, while Dad finished a business trip.

Steve was very angry with me for a long time, because if I had just agreed that borrowing Tom's Mercedes was the best solution, none of this would have happened! And I was so stupid to make him file a police report! (Yeah, cause finding the car and having it returned was the WORST outcome ever!!) He said vile things to me and was pretty ugly, so there was DRAMA!!

Just so we are clear, my parents had a wonderful vacation. I did not tell them this information while they were gone, as they could not have done anything to help and it would only make them worried and upset. I did call my uncle and Becky's parents gave me sound advise throughout the ordeal. Because I am just that wonderful!

But Bob likes to point out that it is not that hard to be a shining star in my family!! Okay, yeah, but I am still pretty shiny and amazing!!

No lack of drama in my high school years, as you well know :) I remember a well intentioned secret admirer plot gone horribly wrong, I do hope you've forgiven or forgotten, or both :)

Justin, It's always weird hearing how you were such a grumpypankts as a teenager (18th birthday party aside).

Angela, Anglea Lansbury is delightful! Cheerleader drama! I can imagine how heated the arguments were, with yelling and inner-rage.

Anne, You win again! That is a crazy story.

Ashley, you are right. Sometimes I'll think about those four years and it I am boggled about how much drama there was. I remember the secret-admirer incident as a prank that got repranked and rediculous. But I never would have known if Darryl hadn't told me.
