Food Shopping: 1/?

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Here at the house, we are experiencing some technical difficulties. The cable hardware from the utility box to the house is... bad? At least, that's the reason Comcast gives for our scattered and poor internet connection. I'm taking advantage of a wireless connection right now, but it's a hassel. For this week and next, until Comcast comes to fix it, QotD? will be irregular. Sorry :[
.
Additionally, that means you'll have to wait to see our new GREEN and YELLOW rooms. And they look fabulous!
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
How much do you spend at the grocery store each week? and/or What most influences how you shop?
.
Love,
The Asker

It depends on whether or not John will be home. This week, I spent $103, but $30 of that was diapers. When John's not home, I spend closer to $40. The difference in amounts is due to being able to stretch meals further when I'm the only one eating them.

It does depend on who is home.

Recently noted that if both Bob and Jacob are gone, there is less than one load of laundry per day and a gallon of milk lasts for two days.

I spend, on average, about $175.00 a week on groceries, including all the supplies for the home. I can whittle this cost down to about $100.00 a week if I have prepared meals in the freezer, but those meals were paid for at sometime!!

This week, my store had a buy one get one for a penny sale. I have stock up on pork chops and chicken breasts, lunch meats and sausages. But I took two trips and spent about $100.00 each time.

Greatest influence on shopping is the complaint, "There's nothing to eat!!"

I think around $75 a week, but we don't always go every week, so some are more than others, and we don't really keep track. That includes non-food/dog food/random crap from Walmart stuff too.

We try to meal plan, but it rarely lasts long.

It's hard for me to say, since we don't average very well. Some weeks, we spend over $100, but typically that involves stocking the cupboards as well, and could be followed by weeks where we only spend $40.

about 100 Brazilian Reals, which is 53.65 US Dollars today.
Our list of the week's meals most influences how we shop.

Probably $75-80 ...but that includes shampoo, detergent, light bulbs, etc. Some weeks is less, some more...depending on company.

What influences my purchases most for the week
is knowing how much time I will
have each day to cook/prepare that evening meal.

On a side note, I recently played
"Killer Bunnies" and loved it!
I want to play again.

~$80 now, used to be $100+, for 3 squares/person/day for 5 days, predominantly influenced by recipes.

4/5 dinners are usually brand new recipes, so shopping lists vary greatly from week to week. Thanks Moms/Aunts/Sister-in-Law for all the recipe books and such!

@ Kathleen,

We have the game and love to play. Call and invite yourself down!!

@ Chef Aggie Engineer,

The looming giant in my home now cooks dinner for the family. And while he made some delicious crepes for dinner last week, not even HE comes up with 4/5 new recipes a week for dinner. How crazy are you??

(Jacob borrowed the wok from his granfather last week to try Asian cooking. That is pretty fun!)
