aminals

Dear QotD?ers,

Remember this?

Well, now it looks like this!See the close up of all the shiney glass and pretty china? Yeah, it's pretty fantastic.
My heavenly duty would be to support the lighthearted enjoyment of hard science and math. Pi Day! Organic Chemistry jokes! This would also include watching over college students who have gone hysterical with studying.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
How many animals do you see, in person, on the average day?

Love,
The Asker

I very rarely have actual interaction with animals since we don't own any, but I see 3 or 4 dogs being walked each day.

One cat.........personally and usually several dogs as I drive to work. I see cattle as I drive to work and there is one place where I can see about 25-30 Longhorns if they are grazing close to the fence.
They have always fascinated me...

I usually see about 5 animals a day, unless you want to count mosquitoes.

First day of school was a good one, especially for Jacob. Jacob got lots of hugs from girls he has never really met before. The downside of his day was that his English classroom had no AC and this "ruined his super fine hair," but he still got hugs. Um, some of you may not have realized it, but in this house we are acutely aware that the coolest guy in the history of humanity is now here. And he can play the bassoon. (Thank you Mighty Boosh for making that hysterical!!)

That is a serious dining room! Very nice!

I would say hundreds. Our cat tops the list along with our dog Layla, who is usually down the road at Aunt Meg's house and never at home. Then I pass more cows than I can count in various pastures on the way to work. Lately the deer have begun to move so I usually see many of them dead and alive on the side of the road. Then if you count skunks and armadillos and all the road kill, buzzards and such, I would say I'm in a very large "animal" area!!! Oh, I forgot to mention goats and horses. I pass several pastures of those as well.

Wow, Barbara sees a lot of animals! I only see a bunch of dogs every day, the majority of which are whitish toy poodles. Yes, this is common practice here.

On interesting days I see other city dwellers, such as the little monkeys and flocks of bright green parakeets. The parakeets are extremely loud and super cute. A few weeks ago I saw a boa constrictor in a tree, but that was not in the city.

I see the lazy cat from across the street each morning. "Bevo" likes the shade in my yard, Ugh. I see dogs being walked, squirrels on the fences, random birds and some sea gulls. From the answers today, you can sure tell we live in different parts of the world!
The dining room looks terrific...lots of work and time!

Tons! Our yard is filled with rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels for our dog to chase, our neighborhood is filled with gorgeous colorful little birds, and giant hawks.

@Kristen
Wow, that looks great with all the stuff in it! *impressed*

@The Question
Lessee...the cat, who makes himself extra seen by meowing pitifully when he isn't the center of attention, stealing chairs, and falling dramatically on our feet if we stand still. I typically see a handful of people out walking their dogs after work. I drive past a horse stable on the way to work, so a handful of horses (including an adorable baby Friesian). I'll also see songbirds, hawks, ducks, geese, and cranes, seasonally. Every once in a while I'll see a beaver or muskrat trying to cross the street. Lots of deer and squirrels.

I'd say on a weekday drive to and from work, I'll see a good dozen different critters even if I'm not particularly looking for them. I'll see a lot more if I go for a walk or take the long way home. =]

Umm...I guess I lied.

I passed seven cow pastures, five horse pastures with at least four horses per pasture, two goat pastures and ten more fields with any assortment of the above but with less than four animals per field. And that was just the morning run!

My original answer was contained to our yard.

There's two dogs across the street that always bark at me while I'm leaving the house. Usually a squirrel or two on campus everyday and some birds.
