Don't rock the boat, baby

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I swapped schedules. That's why I was off last Friday and therefor did not do QotD? We went to a family reunion this weekend. I like Justin's family, so I'm glad I got to see them.
.
Many of you had good responses to last Thursday's questions. I was pleased with the thoughtfullness that went into them. Personally, I support stem cell research that can help the scientific community learn more about ,and perhaps help treat or cure, so many of the diseases and ailments that could benefit. However, I believe that life begins at conception. Therefore, I do not support research that destroys human life. I am greatly botherd by the fact that there are so many 'extra' embryos out there that will either be left frozen, destroyed or used for science. I wish that was a way to satisfy the desire for children without leading to such a terrible choice.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
Do you get motion sickness? If so, under what circumstantce?
.
Love,
The Asker

I don't get motion-sick, but I feel really bad for anyone who does.

I don't remember having motion sickness, but my mother lived for years with an inner ear problem, so she was dizzy all of the time. I too feel sorry for all people who have to learn to live life in that situation.
We loved having you guys at the reunion. Thanks for coming!

I can read in the car and not get phased on a boat, but put me on a carnival ride and I will puke. Yuck.

No, not really. However, if I have been reading in a car for 5+ hours without a break when we get out of the car I feel pretty sick.

I also had dizzy spell issues- but those weren't motion sickness.

No motion sickness, not on a train, not in a boat, not in a car, not on a goat.

My grandmother also had an inner ear problem. She could not ride in cars or on a bus, but she was alright on trains. She had a hard time just standing and walking sometimes.

I never felt sorry for my grandma about that, though. She never complained about being dizzy or it being so difficult to go places. She complained about a WHOLE bunch of other things, but never that. That woman was salty and funny!!

Reading in cars does it. And that one time Mike & Vanessa paid for a ride on the Czhilispiel Tilt-a-Whirl that was a little too tilty-and-whirly and a bit too long. ~woooah~ %-{

My propensity for motion sickness used to be much worse! When I was a kid I threw up many times on car trips. Reading is impossible.

I still get car-sick or bus-sick or boat-sick occasionally. Especially if there are strong smells around, like diesel or gas.

I'm glad the reunion was fun! It stinks to miss events like that.

Yup, I'm very prone to it in the car. I've not done much on boats, but the few times I've been out, I haven't had troubles. I adore roller coasters.

It's pretty much just cars for me. It's a guarantee if I'm in the backseat or if I read, and there's no sign of it if I'm driving.

I never did before, but after pregnancy, I do. I feel naseous in airplanes and especially spinning around in my computer chair. Addison like to twirl me around and around for like 20 minutes straight. A few years ago, that would have been awesome, because who doesn't like to spin in their chairs? And to have someone who WANTS to push you nonstop? Sounds great, but now it makes me want to puke and Addie cries when I get up and make her stop.

@ Moo,

I am so tickled by your dilemma! I don't know how old Addison is, but I imagine this adorable two year old not comprehending why the fun has to stop!!

Apparently, I am off the hook inviting most of you to a backyard play date! Addison can come, but I think the rest of you will just get sick!! Never in my life have I encountered so many people with motion sickness!! Not being able to read in a car???

On occasion I do get motion sickness. Did yesterday, while
we were driving around looking at homes in the Cedar Hill, LakeRidge area. Lots of curvey roads. I had not eaten much for breakfast so I am not sure what the culprit was. I can't read by driving on
rough/uneven roads, but I was not reading. If we fly, I usually take something. Haven't been on a ship or boat for a long period of time, but I imagine I would have to take something for motion sickness.

Jackie, I'll be sure to remember that!

2nd Mom, I'm glad we came. I'm also glad Justin had a more enthusiastic partner for Lego Star Wars.

Anne, what about a box? or inside outside upside down?

Justin, that WAS a rather long tilt-a-whirl ride. I was surprised to learn that I really did have a limit on that thing.

Sabrina, it was a fun little trip. I didn't have to meet too many brand new people but got to spend plenty of time with the people I already know and like.

TamiJean, no reading? That's pretty terrible to hear. I know how much you like to read.. but I guess I don't know how many long drives you take regularly

Moo, for how great babies are, they sure do have strange side effects. I hope I will always love to spin around in chairs.

1st Mom, Cruise ships give you free motion sickness medicine! This will come in handy one day when you guys take an Alaskan Cruise.
