Thank you, Centerpoint Energy

Dear QotD?ers,
.
Despite being in one of the crazy week-and-a-halfs of my life, I had a good birthday. I got to see some family (Matthew) and friends (Paris & Jackie), Midnight yell, afternoon football game in the shade (2nd deck, row 38), home cooked dinner, birthday brownies with ice cream (also cobbler). And the best present, the one I was really really hoping for: Our Apartment Has Power! (the in-laws also got power on Saturday)
.
That was a delightful suprise and life should get back to normal for us now. We cleaned out the fridge yesterday (only keeping a bottle of unopened worchestershire sauce & unopened fruit cups). The power had been on long enough to re-freeze everything and I think that helped with depressing the funk smell. Every part of the fridge has been wiped down or rinsed off. Tonight I'll probably go through again and scrub what needs scrubbing and do a final rinse with a bleach solution.
.
We have been so very lucky, but there are still so many people that have lost. Please keep praying for them, especially QotD?er Amanda and her family.
.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What was the (1) best, (2) strangest birthday gift you have ever recieved?
.
Love,
The Asker
.

(1) gardening tools and supplies, birthday #39
(2) a necklace made of harden clay balls rolled in chicken feed, birthday #19? maybe #20

Yeah for electricity and a clean refrigerator!!

Jacob, for his fifteenth birthday, asked for lab equipment so that he can have his own lab. (Who's the geek now, Justin?) He got a BONUS and FOR FREE 2000ml separation funnel!!! He proclaimed it the best day of his life. (We just gave him the permission and consent to start a lab, insisting that he spend his own funds on supplies. We also insisted that he personally notify our neighbors, so that they are aware and we are not considered a meth lab in town.)

(3) falls into both categories:
2 Big Jars of Nutella. Which I easily finished.

(1) a homemade swing/slide set, multiple years because it was originally a double swing set, then one year i got the slide added on, and then another year i got a high swing added on so i could do flips over it; second runner up, a GINAMOROUS tool set complete with a power drill, birthday #26
(2) i can't think of the weirdest birthday, so i'm gonna opt with the weirdest Christmas present, which was my mom painting my room yellow, a color which i did NOT pick out.
