You've got a funky shape!/ Bet you roll really great!/ Love you, my Jet Puffed _____

Dear QotD?ers,
.
I had a great weekend involving family, great food, a wedding , dancing, a '5k'and one great 2-hour nap.
I should start writing down all my QotD? ideas in my notebook. I had at least 3 good ideas and now I can't remember any of them.
.
Today's Question of the Day? is:
.
What are your feelings on marshmallows and marshmallow products?
.
Love,
The Asker
.
You're soft and squishy, too.
Can't get enough of you!
Love you, my Jet Puffed Marshmallow!

I love Kristen's marshmallows! Otherwise, I'm not much a fan. An old roommate used to eat fluffer nutters, which is a peanut butter/marshmallow creme fluff sandwich. Apparently it's a mid-west staple, but it ruined marshmallows for me.

I think marshmallow should be spelled "marshmellow" because mellow means "soft, sweet, and full-flavored from ripeness." That sounds delicious!

I agree on the spelling modification. Mellow makes much more sense.

I love marshmellows. I love them uncooked, roasted, on top of a steaming mug of hot chocolate, and I even like that white, sticky stuff that you can put on waffles.

I love the exterior texture of marshmellows and that little bit of dry powder that sticks to your fingers. Boy, I am hungry.

No campfire is complete without them.

And I seriously had no idea what a Peep was until I met you. I still suspect it might be part of some grand conspiracy concocted to make me believe I missed out on a typical American childhood.

Congratulations on getting all of your Lunar Festival Elder Coins! /cheer

I have a very limited interest in marshmallows. (And I agree with Cuano on the spelling, but mostly becuase it would be more phonetic with his proposed spelling! And further to that point, would is the correlation between marshes and the marshmallow? Yuck!)

I like s'mores and marshmallows in hot cocoa, but otherwise I really don't like them. Those gross peeps for Easter??? Sorry, Kristen, they are gross!! And all of the sweet snacks with marshmallows in them...gross!!

I guess I have some rather strong feelings. I am a bit surprised.

Sounds like a really fun weekend.

I think marshmallows are a great addition to the food chain. Growing up we had marshmallows in rice-krispy treats and that fruit salad at family holidays. In junior high my mom would pack them as part of my lunch, which led to the penning of my jet puffed marshmallow song. I don't relly have an opinion on marshmallow fluff, since my experience is limited.
S'mores are awesome fun.

I used to be a super-de-duper peeps fan. I've been growing out of it though.
I still love chocolate covered marshmallow santa clauses for christmas and marshmallow/pecan/chocolate clusters.

Okay...I forgot about the rice krispie treats. Those are pretty yummy, but the marshmallows are all melted and not marshmallowy.

I think Cunao is onto something about the midwest and an obsession with marshmallows. But that doesn't explain The Asker, who is definitely NOT from the midwest.

My husband is all about the sweet potatoes and marshmallows (yuck) and he loves what he calls Nanny White Salad, which is the fruit salad that Asker speaks of. And his mother always buys the Peeps for Easter, but even Bob draws the line there.

I guess after a day of working on the farm, marshmallows must seem great!!

One year for Easter, we made rice krispie treats and shaped them like a bird's nest and filled them with pastel M&Ms. Yummy and cute!!

I vote with Anne, all the way - on hot cocoa and on the fire, otherwise, they are gross. I hate peeps! And chocolate covered marshmallow anything. I also hate the word "Fluffy".

Marshmallows are delicious all melty in hot chocolate. They are are also wonderful coated in chocolate in the shape of Santa Claus as well as stuffed between graham crackers and Hersheys. When camping, I like to catch my mallows on fire, blow them out, and then eat them because they're all crunchy on the outside and melted on the inside. Yuuuum.

However, I do not like Peeps. Even though they are quite adorable.

Just to eat marshmellow.....raw...nope!
In rice krispie treats, yes
In hot chocolate, yes
In smores, yes
In Ambrosia, yes
In peeps, NO
they are cute, though

Does anyone know the history behind marshmellows?
