lunch date

Dear QotD?ers,

I chose a long one, apparently:
You should be feeling physically strong, healthy, and energetic today, Virgo,
although you could also be a little lightheaded. You could experience the
sensation of wandering around in a daze with your feet on the ground and your
head in the clouds. Achieving balance won't be easy, but you should be able to
manage it today. Concentrate on activities that involve spiritual or imaginative
faculties today.
I can't say that any of that matches my day. Nice try, astrologers!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Where is your favorite place to share a meal with friends?

Love,
The Asker

I love Panera's.

Having a nice lunch at my kitchen
table...including flowers on the table.....is also a favorite.

in Brazil, probably under an umbrella at the beach.

In the USA, dinner at an ethiopian restaurant because it's fun to watch everyone eat with their hands!

Aside from my kitchen (with everyone pitching in to help cook/prepare food) I like to go to a place here called HuHot. It's a make-your-own Mongolian Grill. So you get to choose everything that goes in your food (including the sauce, which you can mix and match) and then watch them cook it on a great big flat open grill. Tasty, healthy, and a fun experience!

Ummm..the teacher's lounge???

I did a teaching stint yesterday.

I gave away stickers, Hershey's kisses and monetary rewards. (Okay, NOT ONE STUDENT understood the term monetary reward!!! And they complained about my vocabulary in general.) I gave away pesos, bolivars, riyah and other various currencies. I had fun, especailly with the one student who responded with glee each time I changed stickers ("Oooo! Lepruchans! OOO! Pumpkins and ghosties!!") and the one student who responded with "Are you KIDDING me?" with each goofy sticker I gave him. Monetary reward time was fun, too!

I have a few days to think of new goofy treats for next week. I don't care what those kids think... I know it is fun to learn!!! They will have fun!!!

I think I'm gonna have to say Freebirds. I miss Freebirds as much as I miss my college friends!

@Anne

Do I detect a silent "Or else!!!" on the end of your comment?

*winks*

@ TamiJean,

Not so much an "or else" as an "if it kills me."

I had one student yesterday who was just pouty and rude. After two clipped and angry responses, I asked her if she was always this rude and antagonistic towards people who were trying to help her. She argued that she was not being rude. (A muttering was made about the meaning of the big word I used.)

I told her that I was there to help and that I was very cheerful about doing so. Therefore, I was certain that her anger and hostility were unwarranted and that the only result that she would get by acting that way was that she would not learn, she could possibly get a detention (which would be pitiful, indeed), and that I would problably not think very highly of her. I asked her to consider whether all of those outcomes were what she really wanted.

My fierce logic and determination overpowered her!! She began smiling, particpating and GETTING ANSWERS CORRECT!!!

So, yes, if I have to expend all my superpowers of happiness and logic upon grumpy, disheartened 6th graders to win them over to my side, I WILL DO SO!!! If it kills me!!!

Mom, i like both of those places.

Sabrina, an ethiopian meal sounds crazy!

TamiJean, oh yes, getting help makes the meal much more fun

Mr. Steven, aww, it's so nice that you like your mother-in-law's

Anne, one Anne experience that I feel I really missed out on was not having you as my math teacher. I can barely remember who taught me sixth grade. You should have been a Shark that year, not a dolphin.

Skittl, I LOVE eating Freebirds with friends. No utensils, all the cherry pepsi a person can drink and tearing tin foil adds a lot to conversation and companionship.

Asker,

I was a Starfish and a Marlin.

You were too old to have me as a teacher when I was young and beautiful!!

But I would have let you were nametags!

I would NOT have killed your imaginary friend named Bob. But that student for years claimed I was his favorite teacher ever. Poor dear.

At any rate, I think I can confidently say that if I can kill an imaginary friend and STILL rate as a favorite teacher, that you and I would have gotten on well.

Dear The Asker,
I am upset! I leave for 9 posts to train my aromatic monkies in purevenuzala and QotD? breaks down into happiness superpowers, heart emoticons, pumkins and ghosties, and dead imaginary friends! You should really consider censoring the things that are posted onto this blog. I know several groups that would be highly offended by all this rubbish, like the Laughs:
Lingering
Agency of
Unreal-people
Grossly deceased in
Hilarious circumstances
Society
They are vicious!

On a different note, I like to dine with my freinds in a quiet, remote place with little to no windows. Afterwards for dessert I tie their hands behind their back and laugh as I pull my bat from its hiding place under the table. But that's a story for another time (that ends in me escaping from Alcatraz)

Well, my favorite place to sit and enjoy a meal with friends/family is our patio table outside on a nice day/evening. My favorite restaurant is Maggianos by far!

Anne, are you sure? I remember hanging out at A.T. after school when your room was across from my moms....

Dr. Fandango, appologies for not catering to your tastes. You were gone so long, though! I hope your monkey training went well.

2nd Mom, I agree that eating outside on a beautiful day is a great way to enjoy friends.

Asker,

I do not think I ever had a room across from your mom. My room the first year was across from Jan McDaniel and next door to Wanda Green. Of that I am sure!!

But now you make me question many things. Like...Do I know you???
