Fam

Dear QotD?ers,

Yes, I can swim! I took lessons as a child and as a small child. I'm not graceful, and I won't win any races, but I can swim to survive and have fun. We went to the pool this afternoon and I learned that I should swim without contacts or with goggles.

Other weekend activities include: fighting (and beating) the weeds in the back corner flower bed, library, recycle center, using gift cards at Walmart and only spending $.27, eating at a chinese diner for lunch, buying a NEW IRON!, using a NEW IRON! I never though I would ever be excited about an iron, but it is POWERFUL. The steam! oh, that old iron was so sad and ineffective compared to my new iron. I love it.

Today's Question of the Day? is:
Does you family have family reunions?

Love,
The Asker

Kind of. My "Mom's side" big family had two reunions that I know of- one in elementary school that I went to (it was HUGE like 200+ people) and one in high school I had to miss for a trip.

My Dad's family I don't think we've ever had an "everyone can come" reunion, but we have planned a few trips to try to get the entire "immediate" (to my Dad) family together. That's like 30 people. My Mom's family has also had a few similar occasions and that's like 40 people- but it's not really a reunion where extended family like my mother's cousins and all their related family come out of the woodwork.

Yes, the Harris reunion is celebrating their 58th year this year. We need to design a T-shirt for the 60th!! The Harris' were a farm family from East Texas, 13 children. We meet each year in Henderson on the 2nd Saturday of June. We have a reunion on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the Browns/Gages. Now that our parents are gone, it is very important we plan these times to be together. I love to have family get togethers, anytime, anywhere for any reason.

Hmmmmm
Seems to be working......
Yes, we have family reunions.
My mom's side of the family has one every July. My dad's side of the family used to have one every 2 years, but that has kinda fallen by the wayside. :(
Martin's brothers/sisters try to all get together on the family farm at least twice a year and my side of the family gets together on the major holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
I would like for my family(sons/daughter) to get together at least once during the summer for some summer fun. We've done Schlitterbahn and hope to do Galveston this summer.

I am glad to know Kathleen was blocked from posting as well. I was beginning to take it personally!

My Aunt Chris held family reunions at her home for well over twenty years, usually celebrating my grandparnet's anniversary. She passed the torch on to me a few years back, but I am not as successful as she was in gathering everyone. She did have the advantage of being in the Chicago are, where most of my dad's family still live.

My mom's family has been so spread out for so long, that they have no established reunions.

As for Bob's side of the tree, we make regular trips up to Kansas, our presence being considered the family reunion. All of Bob's extended family live within a fifty mile radius of each other.

My dad's side has a giant family reunion every 5 years on the family farm in Iowa. They have "smaller" family gatherings for all the major holidays and birthdays. Just getting together the immediate family is more than 50 people!

My mom's side reunites informally, for birthdays and weddings and things.

I love family reunions as well.

We have Sylvester reunions every 2 or 3 years, I attended the last one in Tennessee and the next one is this August in Arkansas. The Zmolik family gets together at weddings mostly, plus we have some sort of reunion about every 10 years, when there's a big gap in weddings or someone decides they went to throw a big party.

On my dad's side, well... the Johnsons are a much smaller family, just my Papa and Aunt Gayle, so we just get together at major holidays. The Phillips family is a little odd and we don't associate with most of them, but we get together with my Granny's sister and some of her family about once a year for Canastapalooza.

As for John's side of the family, he has a pretty small family and they see each other fairly often, especially for holidays.

Amanda, the cost was $25.27 and our gift cards were for $25 ;] It always looks and sounds like your family has such a great time.

TamiJean, it's pretty concentrated up there, right?

Skittl, those HUGE reunions aren't as fun as the more immediate family ones, I think.

2nd Mom, I'll be there!

Mom, I can't remember going to a reunion on Grandpa's side.

Sabrina, that's a big immediate family!

Angel-A, is your mom's side that spread out or do you just pick fun places to meet?

Anne, it sounds like you should move to Chicago to better plan family reunions ;]
