it's a LOST question, you can be confused like the rest of us!

Dear QotD?ers,

"Did we get drunk?" My favorites are Angel-A's first option and Sweetie Pie's. Good job girls!

Tonight we watched The Persuit of Happyness, which was a good movie. I bet if I had watched it in a theatre I would have been more sad with more crying, but we watched it after work while we were making and eating dinner, so I just cried at the very end.

The first episode of the last season of LOST is this tuesday night!

Today's Question of the Day? is:
No need to have any knowledge about LOST, since it probably wouldn't result in a better answer.. What is the story with the 'smoke monster', or as Justin and I call it: the alien-dinosaur?

Love,
The Asker

um- no knowledge of lost.

I would think that the smoke monstor is a biproduct of the cigarette industry that captures and tortures people who smoke. However, now that you added alien dinosaur to the mix, that can't possibly be right.

So is it a dinosaur from another planet who has come to earth just for our cigarettes? What a pointless trip. (And if there can be dinosaurs on other planets- surely in billions of years there will be humans there too)

The story is: the writers wanted to spook the audience during the first episode(s). They did. Then the fans wanted to see it. So they made a menacing black cloud. Then people wanted to see how scary it really was. The writers temporarily corporealized it to kill Eko. Then fans didn't like it so much anymore, so it didn't show up for a long while. Then Lost theorycraft became en vogue, so they added a plot twist that "Smokey" was the human visages all along, and he's somehow an ancient mystical adjudicator. Then fans were afraid, so they showed the sonic fence could stop it.

Long (long, terribly long) story short: it's the inevitable result of spiral [plot] development by writers who have lost control of the plot some few seasons ago.

Of course, it could all make perfect sense after this season...

Skittl, Hmm, could be. we haven't gotten to the motivation of said smoke monster, and it can definately shape-shift.

Justin, CORRECT!

Jackie, this one could also work and would actually make for some interesting discussions!
