Grand Re-Opening!

Howdy, my adoring fans!  In honour of my birthday, I'm going to try QotD? again!  To see if I can really keep up, I'm going to keep it simple for a while.  maybe just a question and nothing more.  I'll still answer and I'll still read all your answers.... but I've got a baby and a family blog that I'm trying to keep updated for all of Elizabeth's adoring fans that live far away (what, not invited to the family blog yet?  Just send me an e-mail!)

Today's Question of the Day? is:

What is the best thing that has happened to you in the past year?

Love,
The Asker

Okay, that is not fair! I added an adorable daughter-in-law to my family....Love you Sabrina...and an amazing new granddaughter, Elizabeth. They both have blessed my life. And now, I have classrooms full of really great, kind kids. What a great year!

OoOoh, that's a tricky one.

I'm going to say the best thing that's happened to me this year was meeting my new friend D.

It's amazing to meet someone you so instantly CLICK with, and who gets you on a level that causes most people to just sort of furrow their brow in a confused sort of way.

Part of the reason this is the best is because of the joy of making new friends and learning things about new people, but another reason is because I honestly don't make friends in real life very easily. I'm not outgoing and I tend to be quiet and keep to myself.

It's hard to make friends when you're so very concerned with not being noticed.

So I'm proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone to make a new friend in the first place, and tickled pink that it has yielded such fruitful rewards.

Also, welcome back, QOTD!

Which totally reminds me, Kristen -- Driving through a little nearby town, I saw a hand-painted sign advertising (and you know I would not make this up) :

"Quiggley's Quality Quackers : quality pet ducks for sale"

I am going to have to go with the following...I still have green grass in my backyard.

That is pretty amazing with the heat and complete lack of rain that we have endured. I lost an entire garden, one newly planted tree, a honeysuckle bush and all my potted plants this summer. But the backyard (not the front) stayed green, including the putt putt course. That is big. Bob would have been UPSET if I had lost the golf course. AND the other new tree by the course has survived!

AND my water bills were only about 1/3 more than what I normally pay.

My electric bills were 200,000,000 times higher, though.

The best thing that happened to me this year was my trip to Washington state followed closely by relocating to Bryan on a more permanent basis.
